Main point is F35 has already proven its worth by the ISraelis in Syria and even in Iran. It flew over Tehran undetected. J20 hasnt proven anything yet. Not even deployed anywhere. Battle testing is far more important than anything

No they detected it after it flew over Tehran , thats why the official was fired cz he withheld info from supreme leader. Late detection leads to Less time for interception = failure

It is not clear when they detected it. The fact is they did detect it and failed to engage it which is why the head of IRIAF was so afraid to tell the Ayatollah of his failure. He had the power to do something about it and he failed to act. The IADs of Iran is heaviest around its capital so it stands to reason that is where it was detected, not outside of the capital where the radar is weakest. In fact the best radar in all of Iran is located at Mehrabad International, it is a brand new Thales STAR NG.

WS-10B serial is for J11B/BS,J16 and J10B(handful)

but there is a J20 prototype(PT 2021 or 2022 with WS-10C) was fitted with TVC nozzle.

J20's russian egine is a 'locally modified' varient of AL-31FM1/serial 3...13.5 ton class(wet).

the current J20's 'super cruise' maneuvering and combat tactics training are relying on the 'special mode' of AL-31 serial engine plus the plenty of internal fuel .

the WS-10C is the right replacement with the same level of thrust...so it's not powerful enough for the super cruise in full sense. but it makes the J20 fully indigenous.

I doubt that as it is so unreliable that PLAAF chose the AL-31F for the Tibet patrol because Chinese engines had too high a rate of failure.

American single engine is much better than any Russian or Chinese engine F-16 are flying with single engines for decades now and guess what there crash rate is lower than Russian one's.
Russian engines IIRC, Al31 HPT blades have single pass internal cooli g channels. While western scb have multipass.
This was the reason why india chose American F-404 in 90s for tejas.

Single engine jets requires lesser maintenance cheaper to fly. F-35 engine creates quality 28,000 lbf (128 kN) military thrust,
43,000 lbf (191 kN) with afterburner

Chinese and Russia is still 15 years away from creating such a reliable engine and powerful.

(btw do you have any info about WS-15?)

USA is the best when it comes to building jet engines. There is no doubt about it. I wish they would partner with India on Kaveri. For now though, French will do.

They have rejected our request of partnership in development of jet engines.
Once india is able to develop it's own core need of partnership will not exist and even if that happens then we will be equal.
Btw Chinese WS-10 is based on American core.

This is interesting. How come US had no problem collaborating with China on jet engine but seems to have issue with India? What is the logic?

Oh yes, I forgot about the Chinese prowess in industrial espionage. Also, China has good relations with The Cartel. I will not be surprised if China was enabled by The Cartel in this espionage venture.
