Does any one knows why there are so many delays in isro schedule. @Indx TechStyle
Why they are working so slow.
Post corona recovery will take time. ISRO and its' vendors factory will have to reach full capacity again. Also during these COVID vacations, launch sites and factories were spared for modifications some of which are yet to be completed.
ISRO had a ban on many technologies acquisition. That is why ISRO developed by building their own. In case of DRDO, many lobbies were trying very hard to sabotage Indigenous effort. Import lobby in alliance with corrupt politicians harmed Indigenous efforts.
Not really, ISRO always had access to much large range of technologies in both number and proportion being regarded as a non-military organisation largely for very long time (highly strategic techs like cryogenic systems is a different case). They bought many tech transfers and re-engineered imported stuff and yet I would say in fact have not done much (EU, Japan & China had GSLV Mk III type rockets before 1990, US & USSR had HLVs much earlier). They have a certain discipline of work, outerspace operations.

Poor DRDO on other hand is asked to do research on every single la*da lehsun thing, does a lot and is insulted later for every major incomplete project which was never done in India earlier.

Even further, ISRO has too few competitors to compare with as few countries in world have major space programs. Hence, ISRO gets more positive attention. DRDO isn't that lucky. I have worked as manager and can imagine how annoying it would be. Watching at naval systems, radars, guns, safety equipments, ships, satellites, robots, strategic food, helicopters, fighter planes and avionics at once. Seriously, what DRDO doesn't make? If we start to cover their achievements, it won't be sufficient on a thread and a new sub-forum will be needed.

Few successful launches by DRDO now every one is putting DRDO top of ISRO, criticizing ISRO . This is the problem of Indians 😊 ISRO too had faced heavy pressure even from its own countryman . ISRO can achieve GSLV MK 3 in 90s itself everyone knows what happened to that , ISRO took two decades to develop Cryogenic engines from scratch if there is no Spy case we may have better Launch vehicle than West. And the entire Chinese Space program and defence is setup on Russian tech . At the same time we got nothing , yes we got something from certain countries .

Both are doing great job. ISRO current leadership seems problem. And announces great things but misses on timelines.

As told before, factories and vendors need to produce components they haven't for an year.

There is no problem in leadership, same leadership had been working before pandemic.
I agree on that , this very leadership was responsible for chandrayaan 2, completion of gslv mk 3 ,and many other project , thing is our expectations are growing fast and we want radical changes which are both risky and expensive , but that's the need of hour.

I agree on that , this very leadership was responsible for chandrayaan 2, completion of gslv mk 3 ,and many other project , thing is our expectations are growing fast and we want radical changes which are both risky and expensive , but that's the need of hour.
Those radical changes are emerging gradually with new space bill.
This year has scheduled 3 PSLV, 1 SSLV, 2 GSLV and 1 LVM3. Is sufficient to forget delays of last year.

No, What you say was not the case. Do you remember how Cryogenic technology transfer from Russia was sabotaged by US? Do you know how Nambinarayan (A leading ISRO Scientist) Was fixed in a fake case by US by bribing Indian police. So there were constant efforts to sabotage the Progress of ISRO. Even tanks for storing Cryogenic fuel was denied. So it was never as smooth as you explain.

Even tanks for storing Cryogenic fuel was denied. So it was never as smooth as you explain.

Besides a couple, we always could and sourced space tech from US, USSR and France for building our base what we couldn't in defense. That Cryo case was first instant after nuclear tests, probably that wouldn't have been blocked otherwise.

US has policy to offer low tech and deny high end technology. Do you know that they have Identify over 100 defense items in which they can collaborate with us. They all are low tech items which we can produce in India on our own. They are denying us Plane engine technology. Even they are not allowing us the access to M777 barrel technology. It had been and it is always the policy of US to offer low end technology to get money and deny high end technology. They have always followed that. Not only they had deny technologies to ISRO but they made sure that India do not get the same from any other source.

They even put BAN of ISRO. They not only banned ISRO but banned all small and big companies which Supply materials to ISRO. Not only that but they even banned the software which can be used in certain applications. These are all fact and they are in public domain. There is no point in saying that ISRO got all the technologies freely. We got it because of Hard work of our brilliant scientists.

When Agni V was tested, the firat reaction of V K Saraswat was that it was a final kill in the technology denial regime.

Even IIT and IISc like education institution was banned by US and their professors were denied the VISAs. Scientist of BARC were not allowed to attamed conferences on some related subject. US has always tried to see that India does not emerge as a pole in science and technology. This is true for each and every area of high tech science and technology items and domain.

Russia isn't much different either. At least in sectors I have worked in. Russians sell equipment and at best let us assemble. Even US is more generous in transferring technology once committed unlike Russia who backs off. The image lies in Indian PSUs for a reason.

Anyways we need to look into future. I think ISRO should be more aggressive now (look into new areas in space) and take less project, but complete on time.

Not any civilian domain of Indian space program was touched. In fact before testing Prithvi missiles, we had consultation in launch vehicle tech as well.

Further, cryo deal with Russia was not a technology deal. It was essentially an equipment deal which US blocked to prevent India gaining additional capability. Further it's not only US, ISRO had quite good collaborative projects throughput Europe and Japan till sanctions due to nuclear tests.

Pressure faced by ISRO was ever nothing like the one faced by India's defence industry.
DRDO now came to a very comfortable stage. They mastered/develop enough technology to create or innovate new products.

Factually incorrect. It was a deal in which Technology transfer used to happen. It ultimately ended with simply supply of Cryogenic engine without technology transfer. We used these engines in our Initial GSLV launches.

Even US had banned Super computer Cry XMP for weather forecast citing the use in defense and space technology. US has a long history of banning many civil use stuff branding them Duel use technology. US has Banned on the name of Dual use technology.

  • Heavier Hall Effect Thrusters for completely electric satellites to save weight being developed.
  • Semicryo test facility to be inaugurated later this year. So maybe SCE-200 tests are delayed due to lack of test facilities? But they were planning on testing the engine in Ukraine back in 2019, I think.
  • 1.2 m Trisonic Wind Tunnel being established.
  • PRAVAHA: CFD sovler for Aerothermodynamic analysis under development. They already have an FEA solver called FEAST, I remember.
  • Hypervelocity Impact test facility: For testing space debris impact effects (and designing countermeasures like whipple shields maybe?)
  • Vikram 1601 and 3201 Processors being used. 16 bit and 32 bit processors completely developed and manufactured in India. (Most likely based on 180 nm node)
  • CFC (Carbon Fiber Composites) still remain to be indigenized.
  • Columbium-Halfnium alloy is used in PSLV (had no idea). Industry collaboration for Halfnium sponge.
  • Target for this decade:
    • HLV 16 tons to GTO
    • Vertical Stage Recovery Engine with gridfins and a single liquid engine (probably SCE-200) being developed as a Tech Demonstrator for SpaceX style booster recovery.
    • ^This will progress towards 4 or 5 clustered SCE-200 engine-powered Reusable Booster Stage
    • SCRAMJET propulsion demonstration target of at least 250 seconds of sustained flight yet to be achieved.
    • RLV autonomous landing next.
  • IDRSS being developed for Gaganyaan
  • Chandrayaan 3 next year first quarter
  • Mangalyaan 2 still in Definition Phase, science payloads from students invited.
  • Gaganyaan 1st unmanned mission this year end.

ISRO’s commercial arm NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) has bagged four more dedicated launch service contracts even as it plans to pursue satellite building deals.

NSIL launched its first dedicated commercial mission on February 28, orbiting Brazilian satellite Amazonia-1 from Sriharikota spaceport of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

”We currently have four more dedicated launch service contracts, which will be executed in the coming two to three years,” NSIL’s Chairman and Managing Director G Narayanan told.
