Class-D Beyer Garratt

Carrying over from my earlier post on BNR Beyer-Garratts (http://defenceforumindia.com/forum/...indian-railways-multimedia-19.html#post433932), here are a few pictures and renditions on the first Beyer-Garratt to go into commercial run. Yes, it was the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway.

^^

BlackWater, you must be a blind admirer of the British, and a blind critic of the Pakistanis.

Just so that you know, that Class-D Beyer-Garratt was an utter failure, and was withdrawn from service from DHR. :taunt1:

1st thanks for uploading them, I missed these in recent tour..

These trams look nice but they need to change the tracks or modify them, Same way they did in Esplanade to Hastings area..

A line of shops were demolished on 100 Feet Road to make way for the Chennai Metro Rail project.

The structures were located along the Metro's alignment between Koyambedu and St.Thomas Mount. Workers engaged by Chennai Metro Rail Limited used an earthmover to demolish the buildings.

The skeletal structure of Ambassador Lodge — adjoining the heritage building of P. Orr & Sons on Anna Salai — came crashing on Thursday afternoon, shortly before it was to be demolished by Chennai Metro Rail for construction of an underground station.

Good to see major Indian cities getting the much needed and the deserved Mass Rapid Transit systems.

If there's one thing that the success of Delhi Metro and Ahmedabad BRTS has achieved, it is to instill the belief that with the right implementation, Mass Rapid Transit is the way forward in Urban development in India.

Go India!

P.S. Do we have a dedicated multimedia thread for the Mass Transit systems in India? I think it may be a worthwhile idea to have a separate thread for metro, bus and train systems meant for urban transport. Could include taxis, autos etc.
