Do our army use steel core 5.56 mm bullets?
AFAIK, INSAS 5.56 is different than Std NATO round as the former use 64/74 gr OFB round made at Kirkee.
Steel core - capable to penetrate the lvl 3 BPJ.

Is that mean Indian Army uses steel core bullets or not?View attachment 9033

I agree that the Indian military needs to modernise across the board drastically but you should understand that these things happen in EVERY military. It is routine for even ISAF soldiers to buy "Gucci" equipment or specialist equipment as their standard issue equipment is sub par. Of course those western soldiers would be able to afford much more impressive kit but there is no reason Indian soldiers deployed in active combat can't buy pre-approved equipment within guidelines. If it is so , its not a good thing , this type of modernization by soilders own expense should not allowed in our army . This create distribution , rich solders are more modernised then regular one . This is not a good sign for any unit of any army .
Government should provide all stuffs which a unit required , and on special request of unit .
And if government don't have money , open a bank account for our defence forces in which public can contribute by money .

But it will create distribution among soilders and its not good for unity of any unit as rich soilders of unit are more modernised . They all get the same salary so should have similar purchasing power shouldn't they? Anyway this really isn't an issue, like I have said these things happen in every military in the world where they see active combat. In fact in many cases soldiers will pool funds to purchase in bulk quantities. At some point it will come down to personal preference but the standard issue equipment is still "good enough" for combat troops (Ie RR). And there are only certain items individuals can buy, they aren't allowed to buy different helmets, plate carriers or weapons than the rest of the army but if they want a certain kind of multi tool or maybe so,e different gloves then why not?But it will create distribution among soilders and its not good for unity of any unit as rich soilders of unit are more modernised . Not seems good enough
