6 Lashkar Terrorists Killed In Encounter In Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag

Six terrorists were shot dead in a fierce encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district early this morning.

Security forces launched a predawn operation based on inputs about the presence of terrorists in Sekipora village in Bijbehara, around 50 kms from Srinagar.

"As the security forces closed in on the hiding terrorists, they fired triggering the ongoing gunfight," the police were quoted by news agency IANS.

Six terrorists were killed in the operation and weapons, including INSAS rifles, were recovered from the spot, he said. (INSAS rifles are probably those which were taken away by terrorists from a police armory last year).

As a precautionary measure, authorities have suspended mobile internet services in Anantnag.

Three days ago, four terrorists were shot dead in a fierce encounter at a village in Shopian district. A soldier was killed and three soldiers were also injured in the gun battle.

Search operation is underway.

IA doesn't have bolt action sniper rifiles. But they are with Indian police ( combating left extremist) , State/central counter terror unit , Military SF units.
Indian Army doesn't have sniper rifle in their arsenal. They use DMR ( Russian draganov) which isn't sniper.
Now you can't deploy Police force with snipers along IB.
DMR- Designated marksmen Rifle. Which has quick firing rate than Sniper Rifle.
Sniper is bolt action rifle in which who got to load each round after firing like .303 rifle.
Sniper has much better damaging power than DMR.
Ia doesn't have snipers buddy.

Pardon my ignorance but why ? Can't they train snipers and buy some sniper rifles ? Sniping is much less risky than surgical strike .

Incorrect...

2 from HM and 4 from Lashkar..
2 District commander killed, 1 from Lashkar and 1 from HM.

One of them is a long standing big shot named Anees, folks might remember him from Burhan's time.

Interesting part is they were under a tin shed as no one was willing to shelter them. They were Ambushed and killed within minutes. Looks like Spec ops work with precision Intel.

May be ignorance of top brass. Recently I see many changes in troops equipment be it vests , helmet , weapon modification , scopes etc. Forget about sniper rifles , we don't have proper sniper schools in India. I hope they invest some resources of Sniper School.

BSF uses Vidhwansak rifles ( Anti- material rifle) as sniper. IA uses Dragonov ( marksmen) as sniper. Thats what I was discussing with Ashdoc .

As per the over ground workers crying on twitter. Terrorists are barely getting any place for shelter out of thousands which usually come out, only a handful of families are willing to give them shelter. This makes me believe some of the folks who come to these gatherings, come out of compulsion rather than their own willingness.
