Well we civies have always been good (since the forces come from us :p). Only that we did not have information of this sort.
Its up to the leaders to have this info and intent. As in this case the captain of indigo had. How else would we know unless he was part of our community.

Usually the genuine ones have sharp finish and the fake ones are rugged.
Tho that's just in a visual sense to find out the real difference you have to open it then you'll realise the quality difference of the two.
The real ones have better spring, anvil, hammer, gas transfer chamber, smooth bullet transfer, smooth finish and well placed angels and well crafted bore.

It's like when u buy a 500 Rs Puma rip off and a original 2000 Rs Puma shoe.
Beg to differ with you.The Ak47/Ms made in Pakistan ,i mean the tribal areas are carbon copies of Russian ,Romanian ,East German or Egyptian copies.Just go through the captured weapons thread or youtube you could find the weapons made in those parts are exact replicas of Russian ones.
But just like you said ,the difference is visible in the finish of more modern western weapons like copies of Mp5,M4 or Spaz-12 shotguns which involves lot of polymer furniture ..
Any way the production lines of OFB ain't much better than these cottage industries. ..

Is there a way to tell the knockoffs from the genuine article?
Can't say about serial numbers ,but can say with sure that most of the cheap copies could be identified by just looking at their pistol grips.Authentic ones have mostly plastic pistol grips or wooden ones with good finish..Paki made ones have crap wooden pistol grips with bad finish.Otherwise it's hard to tell the difference without close inspection .

I watched a documentary of AK 47 manufacturing ones that had explained the production method in great detail but the video has been removed now.

I'll try to describe as best as I can

Different parts of AK are made of different types of metal, the metal is mostly same but they differ in scale of PSI and alloy admixture.
All the metal are optimized at their best to increase the leathalness of AK.
All metal parts are manufactured by different workshop within the factory completely exclusive where they are checked double checked and any defective parts are removed immediately.

The bullet slip module is tested temporarily on a machine. All the angles are optimized to get the maximum performance. These sharp angled and integrity can't be seen in a knockoff.

Extra care is given to manufacturing bore of the rifle.
A special bore machine is used for this no random bore machine can give the genuine finish of Kalshnikov.
See here there is a difference between the bore of hut made gun and a factory product

The bore is incredibly smooth.

Then comes the gas transfer module.
A metal of High PSI is used for gas chamber, this is the result of 50 years of evolution with the help of thermodynamics, pressure transfer concept and computer aid this just can't be replicated in a hut.
The wooden finish is made of a exotic wood and you'll be surprised that it costs a lot.

Now all of these parts are put together to get the gun working.

Now these gun are given for tets range where if they don't meet the firing sealing they'll be sent back for rectification.

The guns which have passed the tets are cleaned one last time and then boom the Kalshnilkov is ready.

There is always a visible difference between Russian AK 47 a AKM and a Pakistani knock off.

Sir I'm sure you have bought a cheap shoe and a branded shoe to know the difference between products.
Brands have publics trust and have all the rights to charge a reasonable price.

The condition of OFB is shit but that's what we are gonna get from gov sector. :frusty:

The only country that has made quality product in public sector through sheer dedication and responsibility is Nazi Germany.:truestory:Those niggas where high on shrroms.

Irrespective of the awards conferred upon Jagmohan, his role as J&K's governor will continue to be questioned. His stint as governor from January to May 1990 wasn't much to write home about. He had no plan to counter the 'uprising', and ran roughshod over the CAPF taking decisions that resulted in further violence. He did nothing to stem the tide of Kashmiri pandits fleeing the valley in large numbers for Jammu and other parts of India. Insiders believe he facilitated the migration though I'm not privy to this.

He was 'sacked' after four months which shows he was a flop.
But couldn't it be argued that he 'saved' KPs from Jihadis by facilitating their migration?

It can also be argued that the best way of saving KPs from the jihadis was the eliminate the jihadis themselves- mercilessly and with no remorse.

However, the year 1990 in J&K was FUBAR. India was teetering on the edge with a hopelessly out of its depth and spinelessly weak government at centre that was staring at an economy brought dangerously close to the abyss by 4 decades of Nehruvian socialism and exacerbated by the just demitted-the-office government of Rajiv Gandhi. Mandal and anti-Mandal agitations were at their peak and the country was literally burning.

Punjab terrorism was at its peak and at least a year and a half from being fully contained, Assam was boiling as was much of NE. LTTE had regained Jaffna after IPKF was asked to withdraw- having lost 1200 brave men for going back to square one.

Napakis fresh from the "success" of their Afghan policy diverted the now-out-of-work Afghan terrorists along with Kashmir jihadis to raise the level of violence in Kashmir. A hopelessly ill-equipped, inexperienced IA was send in to stem the tide after the civvies made dos bollocks of the situation. Do remember this was a time when Islamic terrorism was still viewed favourably in the West.

Then the attacks on KPs began. The admin was overwhelmed, especially since many KM policemen crossed the LoC to join the likes of JKLF. Jagamohan as the governor had a difficult choice to make. I cannot even imagine the stress and struggles and dilemmas he had to face.

He was sacked most likely due to the pressure from the likes of MM Sayeed, who not only pressured the government to release hardcore terrorists for his daughter, but as he proved till he passed into hell, his sympathies were always with the Islamofascists and terrorists just like his daughter.
