Dhanush will be used to put sheer fear into the mind of the enemy. As LF pointed out, a single BM hitting an enemy port will cause far more damage actual and psychological than a battery of cruise missiles.

Imo It will be used purely for a saturation attack, maybe saya saar who has more knowledge can shed light.

The same collateral damage also means that our timid government will be much more comfortable in using a cruise missile at pakistan rather than a far more destructive ballistic missile. So, this factor will also benefit Brahmos.

How can the enemy know which missile will be used? There is also a possibilty

think of it as very long extended artificial legs for the missile.

One major advantage is with the trajectory and speed ballistic missiles fly it will never be intercepted.
