Its a hi-fi version of a Parent Teacher meet. The Teacher is the summoning party which complains, gives some encouragement with a veiled threat to bring in the principal.

The summoned side is the parent - they nod politely and give their own veiled threat of knowing the management.

This is mainly for optics as civilized nations are supposed to sort out their issues before they beat the shit out of their enemies. In our context its useless. Most of the actual diplomacy for India Pakistan is done covertly or behind the scenes. If there is to be a breakthrough two sides will send in their guys to talk secretly hammer out the larger picture. Then the experts can iron out the details.

Once all is done, the leaders can sign the papers, do the photo ops and proclaim peace. 2-3 months later, Pakistan grows a new weed in its ass and starts over like it did in Kargil.

Earlier this year, a senior Nato decision maker told me that he had seen intelligence reporting that nuclear weapons made in Pakistan on behalf of Saudi Arabia are now sitting ready for delivery.

Visits by the then Saudi defence minister Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz al Saud to the Pakistani nuclear research centre in 1999 and 2002 underlined the closeness of the defence relationship.

Yes he did said this, but if you remember he tweeted this on evening of 27th March..the same evening Imran claimed that India was about to launch a massive missile attack on porkiland and next day he announced to release WC.

So something serious was on cards that night which baba cued that evening with his tweet of "भूगोल"...
