Hi people,
This is Tarun Raju, from Hyderabad. My family hails from the Adilabad district of AP, and I'm here to study and hopefully join public service. Defense, foreign policy and strategic affairs interest me more academically than professionally, so I'm no expert in either of those, except that I can voice a educated opinion. These are exciting times to be an Indian, because I believe these 10~20 years will determine where India will be in the 21st century. While I'm a firm-believer in peace, I place righteousness before it. As Theodore Roosevelt puts it, "If I must choose between righteousness and peace, I choose righteousness."
Although our freedom struggle was characterised by truth and non-violence, that school of though expired the day we won our freedom, and we have since been at war - with ourselves (unable to decide on an ideology), our neighbours, and several other challenges we face as a country that had to start from scratch. I do believe that a powerful, well equipped military, and an active, proactive, and flexible foreign policy is more of a need of the hour than building statues and sending expensive junk to the Moon (or Mars). I hope I'm able to better from this community, and also this community with me a small but meaningful part of it.
