A tragedy like the great damage done to Notre Dame should not be used as an exercise to act out our own insecurity about our own society's failing to make the things we care about relevant on the international stage.

A few leftists that are Indian didn't do enough prostation for your liking when tragedies happen in bharat so you have to take it out on a friendly nation like the French and try to delegitimize their loss and pain? Does any reasonable person think that will win good will or empathy and make our society relevant?

Stop thinking and acting like Pakistanis or we will become them.

Sorry specifically to Armand for the mean spirits .

BTW I read the French planted oak trees 160 years ago to be ready to restore Notre Dame should this tragedy happen again.. If that's true you have to be impressed at their ability to plan ahead

Never heard about this ... can you provide a link ?
We had some experience with burnt cathedrals in the past thanks to our German neighbours. Strasbourg in 1870 then Reims during WWI. Planting oaks might have been decided after Strasbourg’s cathedral was damaged.

Be it God’s misery or sheer luck Notre Dame Cathedral is still standing. Stained-glass windows, the 600 years old organ are not lost. A miracle. Only the very old oak framework is lost forever. Very sad if you believe that old wood has a soul.

I read it on imgur in the comments in some threads and on another forum..unfortunately on my comp and I'm on my phone.

(From a tweet sorry don't know how to add tweets)

"
The fire department in Paris followed a protocol: Save the people, save the art, save the altar, save what furniture you can, then focus on the structure, in that order. They know what can be rebuilt and what can't.
This protocol has been in place since the last time the cathedral was destroyed, sacked during the French revolution.
The steeple and the beams supporting it are 160 years old, and oaks for new beams awaits at Versailles, the grown replacements for oaks cut to rebuild after the revolution.
This is The Long Now in action. It's what happens when you maintain civilization.
Imagine how heartbreaking it must have been to follow the protocol knowing it was all you could do.
It took sixty years to rebuild after the terror. Three Napoleons worth. But it happened, and will happen again.
Versailles oaks. They're ready."

Found this interesting
Copy and pasted

"First of all to anyone wondering if we could use something else than oak trees to rebuild the roof , sadly no the way Notre Dame was built relied on having a roof carpentry known as a Gothic Calister Roof , and need to be of a certain weight to weigh down on the structure in a certain way , and oak beams is the only sweet spot we can achieve unfortunately . Soo the Versailles trees and other oak trees will have to fuel that renovation . (also Nikus yes the picture is not showing oak because that dufus doesn't even know that it is in Versailles the city that tree were planted not at the palace but there is a reserve indeed that was planted not specifically for Notre Dame mind you but we were in need of wood for renovation at the time of planting and those trees in the outskirts of Versailles does belong to the nation for construction purposes indeed so he has blown it out of proportions but he is technically not completly incorrect)

Secondly and this is the most important please don't ask for the Vatican to foot the bill.

Why ? Simply put in France in virtue of our laws of separation of church and state any place of worship that is older than 50 years are placed under the ownership of the institutions and under the responsibility of the government in return for loss of control over their own temples the nation engages itself to foot the bill to maintain the place clean safe repaired and restored for the generations to come .
Sadly over the recent years both the left and the right have not been honoring that part of the deal with flying colors and only begrudgingly and constant fights between the Vatican and the governement for Catholic landmarks , fights between The Council of French Protestants and the government and their landmarks , the Council of French Muslims and their landmarks have happened and continues to happen .

Of course no one will turn down donations to help foot the bill we're not saying that volunteering supplementary money is a bad move. But please bear in mind that in France who foots the bill for places of worship renovations should by law be the government through taxes in no uncertain terms in the article 13 of the laws of 1905 on separation of Church and State ."

Great lookings oaks

But still the story does not seem to be reliable... Notre Dame Cathedral was definitely not destroyed during French Revolution. Napoleon celebrated his wedding in Notre Dame in 1804 ... just a few years after.

Notre Dame of Paris is definitely like the old heart of Paris and thus the old heart of France. Seeing it burning was nightmarish. Maybe this shocking disaster can help the country to restore some sense of unity.

Is there a tiny forest of oak that belongs to the government for construction purposes on the outskirts of Versailles the city not the palace that was planted 160 years ago ? Yes
Were they planted specifically for Notre Dame ? No
Are the trees in the picture the oaks in question ? No they aren't even oaks at that .
Hope this answers the question . I can detail a bit more how forest management work in France but long and short of it , forests that belong to the governments are considered public good , hence why shroom picking is a free for all inside them , on the flipside most of those trees that belong to the government were always planted for a purpose or another.
For example in my neck of the woods the Marchiennes Forest has been planted for paper making purposes for the national paper factory's exclusive use.
You can go trekking horse riding and shroom picking as a citizen , but any wood in that forest is the exclusive property of the government.

irrespective of our discussion, half a billion dollars are already pledged for it's reconstruction.
So might as well drive the point that Bharat is truly alone in this world, we are on our own. sooner more people realise it the better....
You ain't making any sense here. Why would Christians pay money for the restoration of pagan structures.

Not per say about religion...

Emphasis is on indian libtard bleeding hearts who behave as if their own backyard is burning when an incident happens in faraway country, and then the same people downplay when our own backyard is literally burning.

Case in point is when hours and hours of tv debates on Charlie hebdo incident on Indian news channels, and day before yesterday there was TV debate condescending “Mein bhi chowkidar” while “je suis Charlie” literally translates to “I am Charlie”.

A temple in Madurai was damaged due to fire, did any of the "Virat Hindus" out here on this DFI forum decide to open up a thread on it?

Maybe the discussion in this thread should be about the fire in Notre Dame and maintenance issues regarding old monuments? Don't get me wrong, I understand the civilizational threat of Islamic migration. But perhaps there are other threads for that.
C'mon man. They never created a thread for Akshardham terror attack on Western defense forums. We've done more than they did for us. Some Church burned, we read about it. Its maintenance is not our core issue. I'm sure they have pledged the resources to revive it.

Their media justifies attacks on Indian temples, because "alienation". Well, alienation has arrived at their doorsteps now. We can make common cause with only those who see eye to eye on our core issues. If the terrorists who kill our soldiers are freedom fighters to NYT. Then their church burning is a BBQ party to us.

Why so serious?

I never understood this very European phenomenon. Europe in general and France, Belgium in specific have a radical Islam problem. Acknowledging it should be the first step not sticking your head in the sand. Despite all the hullabaloo in US, Muslims have been much better integrated in American society than in any European one.

Integration of Muslims in the European societies has failed quite spectacularly. Mind you that most of these terror attacks are carried by second generation immigrants. So in short, this is just the beginning.

If only someone had kicked virtue signalling fucks in the balls/cunt, you wouldn't be having this problem.

Such big hypocrites these so called progressive societies are.

We have our share of such hypocrites too.

This is the question we need to ask to people like Prashant Bhushan when he files a petition in favour of Rohingyas.

Fair enough. But let's not end up cheering jihadis ourselves.

Blaze Erupts at Jerusalem’s Historic al-Aqsa Mosque as Notre Dame Burns (VIDEO)

A fire broke out in al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem, the third-holiest site in Islam, on Monday. The blaze didn’t cause significant damage, but it did endanger a part of the worship site that’s over 2,000 years old.

Notre Dame de Paris wasn't the only beloved house of worship that caught fire Monday. Part of the Haram ash-Sharif, the huge Jerusalem mosque built where a pivotal event in the prophet Muhammad's life is believed to have occurred, also caught fire, damaging a part of the structure dating to Judean King Herod the Great's reign.

The fire broke out in the guard room outside the al-Marwani Prayer Room Monday evening, according to a statement by the mosque's Islamic Waqf (Endowments) Department. According to The New Arab, a guard reported a short gap in guard rotations between 7:15 and 7:30 p.m. local time.

The waqf department praised the responsiveness of staff firefighters, who quickly put out the blaze. The fire seems to have been started by children fooling around, and the waqf's statement urged worshipers "who live around the mosque and in the Old City to educate their children not to tamper with fire, especially inside al-Aqsa mosque."

Israeli police told al-Araby they were opening an investigation into the incident. Israel has governed the entire city since 1967, when it seized the territory from Jordan. The United States has recently recognized Israel's claim that Jerusalem is its capital, but few nations have followed suit, with most sticking by the many United Nations resolutions condemning Israel's annexation of the territory.

Al-Aqsa means "the farthest" in Arabic; a house of worship was built in the site because of a verse in the Quran describing the prophet Muhammad's "Night Journey," which says he went to the farthest mosque before ascending to heaven atop a flying horse named Buraq ("lightning, in Arabic). It's unclear which caliph founded the modern structure, but it was almost certainly built in the late seventh century and steadily expanded ever since.

The al-Aqsa grounds also include the Dome of the Rock, an intricately decorated shrine built on the physical site from where it's believed Muhammad ascended to heaven.

Also known as "Solomon's Stables," al-Marwani was most likely built by Herod the Great, a Judean client king of the Roman Empire during the first century BC. While a Muslim caliph named Marwan I is credited with turning the stables into usable rooms, it wasn't until 1996 that the Palestinian Waqf converted the structure into a modern mosque capable of holding 7,000 worshipers.

Brazilian Media pay none attention to this fire, and only published about Notre Dame. Regarding this Mosque the Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, in his recent travel to Israel, is said to had signed a book authorizing the temple's demolition to rebuild in his place the old Salomon Temple.

A symbol of Christianity and a symbol of Islam burn simultaneously. This is so much coincidence to have just been two acidents. Have Christian and Muslins a common foe?

While in old Cold War, the struggle between world powers happened around the Enlightment's ideologies of capitalism vs socialism, I think in this new Cold War, religions will take the place of ideologies. In one side are the Globalists (Zionists, Westernalists, Universalists, etc lead by USA), and in other side are the Traditionalists (Christian Conservatives, Muslim Conservatives, Nationalists, opponents to Globalization, lead by Putin's Russia).

If I'm not wrong, sculptures of many saints in the front facade were vandalized, but they were not destroyed during French revolution..

Some interesting tweets regarding slave mentality of Indians .........

It is said that so many Brahmins were killed at Somnath temple that the weight of their Janois was Pono Man (15 KG). There was lots of gold and jewellery which was looted.

When India was suffering from terrorism, Europe was enjoying the tamasha. India warned them but they were over confident that it would not happen in Europe. Toni Blair admitted that in an interview with Barkha dutt. He admitted that India had warned them but they over looked it. Now it is the time pay for Europe.
One thing what they forgot is that India has a capability of fighting with all odds and survive. We have paid heavy price in past but we managed to survive. On the other hand Flimsy European culture does not have the capability to pay the price to protect their civilization. They will surrender and vanish. It is happening in Britain and many other European Nation. The problem with them is they do not have the leadership like Modi , Putin or Trump who can go out right behind terror and eliminate it. They have lost the capability to fight for the cause. It will be an interesting scenario ahead. One think is very sure that they will get very harsh punishment at the hand of Islamist.
