Comments on this please:

1> Put NAL up for sale to a private company in India. Will jump start their capability to be an aerospace manufacturer.

2> Absorb NAL inside HAL and give it a major leg up in research and development capability.

3> Absorb NAL inside DRDO under the ADA and beef up the ADA

4> Hand over NAL to an academic institute like the IISc and create something like a Draper Lab out of it.

5> Bump up NAL funding, stop it from making aircrafts/ be a production agency/ aircraft making company, and instead become a pure research body. Basically make a TsAGI out of it.

NAL is not OFB it's a research institute. It like selling DRDO to private company which is not possible.
More or less we just need to manage them properly.

NAL is civilian market oriented organisation, DRDO & HAL are defence market oriented organisation.
if there are any disputes/military sanctions in the future, DRDO & HAL may be effected, NAL will not be effected.

Some points -

1. The Shaurya missile did a terminal maneuver in the terminal phase and hit the target with few metres accuracy.

2. The missile is now under series production.
So the missile is already operationally deployed or will soon be deployed.

3. There has been no official confirmation about the test or the result of the rest. For some reason or another the MoD and DRDO want to keep this project under wraps. No customary press releases by DRDO or Kadi Ninda tweets congratulating the DRDO for the test success. New guidance and navigation system utilising the tech advancements made in the last decade.

4. This is a newer variant of the missile with a composite motor and higher energy propellants developed for the Agni-1 P project.

5. In all probability the missile has a ranger greater than 1700 km. B-05 had a 1750 max range with a 250-400 kg warhead.

6. A Ashbm missile based on Shaurya is under developement . This is logical and also doable. Shaurya can already execute maneuvers in the terminal phase besides gliding and coasting for most of its trajectory .
Here’s the thing. This is known that it’s a hypersonic missile system. What you hear in the news is it has a max range of 1800kms. Why are we hearing chatter From other forums that the range is well over 2000kms? Can the range be verified?

Do you think that the NAL can be allowed to do contract research for private companies? Similar to how SRI international operates? That will allow it to have a strong source of revenue as well as revamp its own self for more modern and cutting edge research in aerospace engineering. I feel it will do wonders to NALs capabilities.

It might have conducted its first flight already and we don’t know because it’s under development since 2009

The missile's induction itself, post 2011-12 is under a veil of secrecy. The range being a secret is no surprise either. All online sources I know of put it as 1800-2000. Neither of us would mind the 'well above' part, if that's the case.

I read somewhere that US intelligence agencies had made a report about the development of new 3 missiles in India. K-15 was among them. The report was very old.

The bat munchers would be very..... anxious about the one under discussion and the ones that ain't. Keep the NOTAMs going. Loving every one of them.
* BTW how many of R37Ms did we buy after testing in June?
