This is the way of Chinese business. There are about 50 car manufacturers in China (only 12 are goverment, the rest private.) There used to be over 100.

There over 15000 semiconductor firms registered in China. lol

At some point there will be a few giants to emerge in every industry but China's enterprise system is far more aggressively capitalistic than even the US's. There is always a group of SOEs (state owned enterprises) to provide stability while the private maelstrom worked itself out.

As far as unicorns, the entire private space industry in China raised over $1.2B in funding in 2020 (vs $2.2B in the US.) So unlikely any one is worth $1B to qualify as unicorn startup.
