never judge the book by the cover it has.just seeing one cover photo how can you say he is poor.
pics can be misleading
accept your point, and same applies to china too.one who thinks he is rich in china is poor class for a super rich nations middle class citizen
all that matters is in ppp terms and chance of growth potential.
as for an old proverb as you sow you reap, any company has to invest less for infrastructure here and the returns too will be obviously less
well, China is the heaven for "mid class" so called. Here, They can enjoy infrastructure as advanced as USA and EU and buy cheapest modern house appliances , while enjoying service item as cheap as in Tainland.
For example,
USA's "mid class" may afford modern house ,household appliances, and other modern commodities easily, but they can hardly afford dining in restaurant every week
however, it is quite usual that Chinese "mid-class" family have a dinner in restaurants once every week at least
real "mid class" in India may enjoy cheaper housekeeping service than CHina....
But they can not enjoy world class infrastrcutures as CHinese couterpart, they can not buy houseappliance as cheap as in CHina.
the life quality of mid class in China is quite close to that in Taiwan ,HOngkong and S.korea, while enjoy cheaper service items
that is why soooo many oversea Chinese return to CHina now.....because they can enjoy higher life quality in China while having more fortunate chance.
Of course, maybe only 30% of Chinese belong to "mid class" so called...
the real problem for CHina is to improve the life quaility of blue collar class such as peasant workers
their life quality is much lower than chinese "mid class" and their counterpart in developed countries
