    Neither side uses sniper to target HVTs as that will lead to large escalation. Snipers on both sides have instructions not to target officers.

    We do not need snipers to punish PA. Our LoC kill ratio nowadays is much better than in 1998-2003. Paki casualtues are atleast 40-50% higher by their own reports. In 1998 we had 18% more casualties than them. P.S. Snipers caused less than 2% of Soviet casualties during Talvisota

    To be honest more than Modi govt, army senior commanders on ground do not show much urgency for new sniper rifles as they believe that India's significant advantage in firepower along LoC is good enough to retaliate to sniper attacks.

    There were 138 casualties on Pakistan army side last year and it includes injured ones too. Our media reported all casualties as fatalities. All but 1 of the BSF men died along IB. From 2016 onwards till date Pakistani forces casualties incl. injured on LoC and IB are around 400.
