The US army has chosen the all new JLTV as a replacement to the legendary Humvee. An initial order of 5500 JLTV's has been placed.
I dont see this JLTV becoming mainstream. Not at this price. At 10X the cost of a Hummer it is no wonder the orders are so small.
We make a similar vehicle in the Sherpa 2/3A but even at half the price we don't buy it any numbers.I dont see this JLTV becoming mainstream. Not at this price.
The Sherpa sees limited service amongst NSG units in India too - good vehicle, but pricy. We make a similar vehicle in the Sherpa 2/3A but even at half the price we don't buy it any numbers.
The capability between the two is so pronounced. The JLRV is truly a generation ahead of HUMVEE in all parameters. But the JLTV was concieved for assymetric warfare in War on Terror. So it was overdesigned to withstand IEDs, RPGs, high caliber rifles, and stay nimble and mobile in all kinds of terrain. We make a similar vehicle in the Sherpa 2/3A but even at half the price we don't buy it any numbers.
Sherpa has all of that protection crap in it. JLTV is no better and costs twice as much with half the range and half the payload. The capability between the two is so pronounced. However the US is now moving away from War on Terror and focusing more on countering China and Russia the JLTV is no longer necessary. In its contest against China and Russia firepower is more important than IED protection. So the JLTV is not anymire so important.
Your Sherpa is old tech to JLTV. The suspension system of JLTV alone is a whole different field with your Sherpa. That Sherpa is slow over rough terrain.Sherpa has all of that protection crap in it. JLTV is no better and costs twice as much with half the range and half the payload.
They look awesome! If I were young, I would join US army just so that I could drive those babies.Lithuania set to buy almost 200 American JLTVs
