"such lofty words from an aspiring "superpower."
its just my personal view . Nations can keep playing dirty politics with each other. I don't give a damn if india becomes a superpower ,it doesn't matter how many missiles and fighter jets we have till ppl suffer everyday for basic needs like food, clothes and shelter ..........

No country has become an economic power without a strong military foundation.

Actually I would say, no country has become a military superpower without economic might. No country has stayed an economic superpower without military might.

Compare India to Germany, UK, Spain...? They're all first world countries...? So what's wrong with being a US puppet then?
Since you are such an ardent Chinese fan, I can put the same question to you too, if what you say is so, then why didn't the Chinese ever became a western puppet ?? Both India and China were considered socialist and communist and anti-west during the entire Cold war period.

"Buying Yankee equipment is the first step to becoming a Yankee puppet."

So India before was just glad to be a losers (USSR's) puppet? Why not then a winner's puppet?

We are the first Nation to fight and bring down White hegemony and Imperialism, every other nation followed suit! So you must understand we have very strong feelings on not becoming an subjected nation again. That has been our whole policy and if you dont understand that then you dont understand Indian at all. Asking Indian to become a subject state is like asking the US why they dont stop following Democracy, we are born out of those rebellions and ideals and that's who we are now.

USSR and communism those days was an instrument to fight imperialism, Communism came to power as an Instrument to destroy decaying monarchies, So we could see eye to eye with them. That was an different era and even at that time we had the same policy of not putting our eggs in one basket, we bought Weapons from USSR and Europe.

see we think of US and other countries as allies if not atleast a friendly nation And u guys see other countries as puppets that is the difference in approach...

Grandiosity is chiefly associated with narcissistic personality disorder, but also commonly features in manic or hypomanic episodes of bipolar disorder.[1]

It refers to an unrealistic sense of superiority, a sustained view of oneself as better than others that causes the narcissist to view others with disdain or as inferior. It also refers to a sense of uniqueness, the belief that few others have in common with oneself and that one can only be understood by a few or very special people

Then Indians who willingly cooperated with the USSR were naive at best. USSR is one of the gigantic imperialist of the 20th century, well, under the banner of "communism." In fact, until now, the successor of the USSR wants to continue control over its former "satellites" in Eastern Europe for what they proclaim as "security buffer." Despite the fact that a lot of these countries are vocally against being satellited by Russia again.

Probably nothing serious - considering you stay in the best of interests of the protector. Because if you don't, then your fate will be like those of the Central and Latin American countries - remember Panama, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Argentina from the 60s and 70s? Now look at their economy - most in shambles.
Actually look at US-Europe relations now and look at the economies of most European nations (exclude Germany, France, UK and the Scandinavian countries, they had stronger economies than US for most of last century).

Actually you are naive to say that ! USSR may have been an imperialist according to you but it didn't enforce its will on India, India needed the support of an capable world power to pull itself up from the sorry state that it was in when the Britishers finally left with regards to its defense, economy and industry and the USSR filled up that necessary gap. The west considered India not worthy of anything at that time and neglected us, and anyway we weren't expecting help from the Europeans who themselves have been the biggest imperialist that mankind has ever seen in the past 5 centuries, and who exploited 80 % of the world resources for their own benefits. We needed support from a non-imperialist power with a understanding of our problems to become and grow as a nation state and help us with the necessary infrastructure to set the building blocks of a strong, independent nation state in our most dire hour of need at prices that we could afford. No western power would have done that, and neither would they do so now.
