Syrian army launched a new operation in the south-west of Syria The

if i have understood the game correctly, there is a section in US establishment which wants Russia to be the other pole, not china. they are giving space for Russia to manoeuvre, because obama had shut russia down completely.
we can also see that American liberals for past 6-8 years have been projecting Russia as the big bad wolf, while covering up for china's expansionist mindset.
powers behind Trump probably want to cede some space to russia, so that it can earn some bargaining chips at the power table.
incidentally recently Ram Madhav also talked about russia pushed into corner without manoeuvring space against china, in a different context though.
