Can India exert its military power far beyond its own borders in the same way that the US, UK and France can?

It's fine looking at the raw numbers - military troops, number of tanks etc, but it's irrelevant - what is more important is technological capability, modernity of their military etc.

India may not have the cutting edge technology, expeditionary capability, global power projection and oversea military bases around the world like we have, but we should not forget that quantity has it's own quality too.

i have read in an article that they have subs in which only one guy and a torpedo can fit. would love to see an image of such sub

USN is bigger than the next 10 world's largest navies combined together. Let alone it's capability and quality. This kind of ranking is quite rubbish as it does not take important factors into account. I'd rather take 4x Ohio or Vanguard class submarines and 10x Astute or Virginia class subs than 78x North Korean made subs.

The annual report of North Korea's military capabilities by the U.S. Department of Defense, released in early 2014, identified the North Korean Navy's strength at 60,000 personnel, 70 submarines, 420 patrol combatants, 260 amphibious landing craft, 30 mine warfare vessels, and 30 support ships.

The North Korean navy is considered a brown water navy and operates mainly within the 50 kilometer exclusion zone.

The list is just a complete BS as the vital factors are not taken into account. 2x Astute class submarines alone would crumble the entire North Korean naval fleet.

Military budget list is misleading as well, in fact the UK spends £38bn on defence that is equivalent to $63bn. Besides, we do not operate any aircraft carrier.

India's submarines is not 17, it has dwindled alarmingly. Until we get the scorpenes operational, we lack in that front, India needs another akula in the meantime.

Germany operates only four while , Israel operates 14 out which 6 will be dolphin class.

Currently un-deniably Uk,france and Israel are ahead of india and may be even china in terms of military equipment in both Quantity and Quality. But i think this will tilt favourbly to india and china by 2022. My estimate is around 2022 india should be ahead militarily in both qualitative and quantitve terms pushing behind France,uk and israel.

Lot of reasearch done by DRDO took long time to Fruitify and only from recent years they have started to taste sucess. And one observable trend among indians is first version of any product comes very late,but subsequent versions come very very quick.hoping on this trend i believe india will do amazingly well by 2022 in terms of military.

first save uk because scotland is going away breaking the union,

god knows what hitler would have done to your country if america wasn't there to help you hitler would have finished the job and that was more than 70 years ago,when uk was ruling half of the world and still on the edge of defeat by germans today uk don't have that empire nor economy,

and also if germany wasn't demilitarized by america or russia they would have kicked uk's butt by now and who knows may be they will in future,germany may still have ambition of taking over europe and if not germany,russia definitely do,

today's wars are brutal as always but also asymmetrical,

you cannot fight terrorism and definitely cannot contain china or russia on your own and without america in fact you won't even think of that without america and your talks about power projection are cute but not practical,

your days of british empire are over forever,

between islamic terrorism and china your tiny island will be crushed.
