The heavy lift ship carrying them is one of many capable of flooding it's hull to sink a few feet under the waterline, the subs are then floated into position and secured to the sunken hull (the superstructure of the heavylift vessel remains above water). Compressed air is then forced into the heavylift hull floating it and lifting the subs above the waterline.
