Ravana was the only gentleman of all the main characters in Ramayana. His gentlemanly behaviour surpasses even that of Hanuman, least said about Ram.

Ravana himself admitted to his follies.
Rama was without blemish when it comes to the subtle science of morality.

Rama was a coward, and he violated Kshatriya Dharma on many occassions. I could list 'em all, but that would derail the thread. For one example, read how that slimey and sorry excuse of a 'Kshatriya,' murdered Vali.

He hadn't touched her.

BTW, from that 'leftist historian' thread where you dodged my question, did you look up what 'vivaha' means? Can you define it here for us please? :eyebrows:

It is relevant to your question here.

He held her against her will. Not gentlemanly at all.

If you read my post in its entirety where I used that word gentlemanly, you will get the context.

To be honest, I still don't.

It's like you have 5 pots of water, and one of them is the hottest of all. That does not mean the hottest pot is the hottest object in the universe, but only the hottest among those 5 pots.

Similarly, I am not saying Ravana was the most gentlemanly person of all beings, carnal or ethereal; but he was definitely the best of all the main characters in Ramayana.

Does this help?

BTW Vaali himself wasnt a gentleman...who abused his brother and took possession of Sugriv's kingdom...moreover why Ram had to take out Vali the way he did was because according to mythology anyone who stood in front of Vali would lose half of their strength to him.

The question is still valid, you consider a person who abducts and keeps a woman against her will a gentleman? And I fail to see how you rate Ravana's character to be higher than that of Hanuman.
