Paramilitary forces' vehicle attacked on Quetta's Sariab Road, 3 Dispatched to hell

Three levies forces personnel were martyred in a targeted attack on Quetta's Sariab Road on Eid day, DawnNewsTV reported.

Initial reports suggest that a paramilitary forces vehicle was intercepted by unidentified men on Sariab Road near Killi Bangulzai.

The levies personnel sitting in the car were fired at by the attackers. They lost their lives after suffering bullet injuries.

Rescue teams later reached the scene and moved the slain personnel's bodies to Civil Hospital Quetta.

The slain men have been identified as Anwar Ali and the brothers Najeebullah and Haseebullah.

Quetta's Deputy Inspector General of Police Razzaq Cheema said the miscreants had escaped unhurt from the spot after the attack.

"This seems to be an act of targeted killing," he said.

Cheema had earlier said over 4,000 police and Frontier Corps personnel had been deployed on the eve of Eid in Quetta city.

Police constable killed in gun attack on checkpost in Peshawar

A police constable in Peshawar lost his life on Thursday as unknown motorcyclists opened fire on a police post in the city's suburb of Hayatabad, DawnNewsTV reported.

According to Peshawar police, the incident occurred at around 9:45pm, within the jurisdiction of Hayatabad police station.

The deceased official was later identified as Frontier Reserve Police (FRP) Constable Shah Fahad, SP Cantt Wasim Riaz told DawnNewsTV.

The senior police official said that the deceased was on duty and was also wearing a bulletproof jacket when the firing incident happened.

"It is early to say whether it was an act of targeted killing or not," said SP Riaz.

Two soldiers ,six terrorists killed in high-profile Waziristan operation

PESHAWAR – Two soldiers were martyred while six terrorists were killed in a high-profile intelligence-based operation (IBO) in South Waziristan on Saturday.

According to a communique issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations, security forces conducted the successful operation in the village of Spina Mela near Ladha, South Waziristan as part of Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad.

The operation was launched on reports of presence of a few terrorists who had entered the area morphed into returning TDPs [temporarily displaced persons], the ISPR said.

Following an exchange of heavy fire, six terrorists were gunned down, including high-value target terrorist Nanakar involved in killing of local population and Maliks.

Three Pakistani survey team members killed by landmine in Balochistan

QUETTA: Three members of an international oil and gas company survey team were killed and five injured when their vehicle went over a landmine in the Toba Nohkani area of Dera Bugti on Tuesday.

According to Levies personnel, members of the international company were surveying the Dera Bugti area for oil and gas reserves when their vehicle struck a landmine “planted by terrorists”.

“At least three members of the survey team were killed on the spot while five others sustained severe injuries due to the blast,” the Levies personnel added.

A heavy contingent of Frontier Corps and Levies force personnel flanked by rescue workers reached the site of the incident and cordoned off the entire area. The critically injured were flown to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Dera Bugti via a helicopter.

The deceased were identified as Abid Hussain, Akhtar Jan and Zikriya Khan. Their funeral prayers were offered at the Pakistan Petroleum Limited office after which their bodies were sent to their native towns in Sindh and Punjab provinces for burial.

ANP leader Haroon Bilour, 12 others martyred in Peshawar suicide blast

PESHAWAR: Awami National Party (ANP) leader Haroon Bilour and 12 others were martyred and nearly three dozens injured in a suicide bomb attack targeting an ANP rally in a congested neighbourhood of Peshawar shortly before midnight on Tuesday.

The blast occurred near the vehicle of Bilour, son of the late ANP leader Bashir Bilour, in the Yakatoot area. The casualties were driven to the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) where medics confirmed the death toll.

ANP supporters gathered outside the hospital and shouted slogans against the government for its failure to provide security to their leader.

Bashir Bilour, the father of Haroon Bilour, was also martyred in a suicide bombing targeting his rally in the fabled Qissa Khawani bazaar of Peshawar in December 2012. The outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan had claimed responsibility for that attack.

Condemning the attack, ANP’s senior leader Mian Iftikhar Hussain said it was aimed at derailing the democratic system in the country. “It is a conspiracy to delay the upcoming general elections,” he added.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sardar Muhammad Raza also denounced the attack. “This shows the weakness of our security institutions and a conspiracy against transparent elections,” he said in a statement.

The deadly bombing came a day after the National Counter Terrorism Authority (Nacta) warned that almost all leading politicians belonging to almost all mainstream political parties are facing serious security threats.
