1. The Pakistani army is a Punjabi army and even in terms of Punjab it is composed mainly of Punjabis mainly from the north of that region e.g. the Potohar-Punjabi speaking belt. Southern Punjabis such as Saraikis are excluded.

It will take military action against non-Punjabis.

i: 1971 Bangladesh.
ii: Killing of Indic Mohajirs in Karachi in the 1990s.
iii: 2010s, destruction of Waziristan.
iv: Operations against Baloch.

However Pakistan is basically a Punjabi empire and these other areas such as Balochistan, Karachi, east Pakistan, Pakhtunkhwa are "appendages" to the real "Pakistan" which is Punjab.

2. Bengalis, Mohajirs, Baloch, Pashtuns look different to Punjabis and speak different languages and have different customs.

Punjabi civilians speak the same language, and look the same as the Punjabi soldiers of the Pakistan army whom they are related to.

The "Pakistan" (Punjabi) army is the biggest employer in Punjab, so Punjabi civilians have brothers, sons, uncles, cousins, second cousins, multiple relatives in this massive army. It's not so easy to kill your own blood, which is why Pakistani nationalists say things like "the Pakistan army will never turn its guns on Pakistani civilians" (ignoring 1971 east Pakistan, Balochistan).

Replace "Pakistan army" and "Pakistani civilians" with "Punjabi army" and "Punjabi civilians" and it all makes sense.

3. The ghost of its humiliation and defeat in 1971 haunts the "Pakistani" (Punjabi) army, the fact that its liberal intelligentsia have to face the embarrassment of its chronic history of coups (symptomatic of dysfunctional governance and inability of civilians to run a country) and would have to face another embarrassment if the army carries out a coup again must surely play a part in the minds of the Punjabi generals that run the army.

Even though they blame their defeat in 1971 on Bengali "treachery" and "evil Hindu India", they themselves know that they were racists and went on an orgy of rape, and murder in 1971. This haunts them.

Shooting civilians in far away towns which are culturally alien to them such as "Chittagong" or "Miranshah" and shooting "Bangalees" and "Pathans" is one thing....but

...fighting in Lahore, Islamabad, Faisalabad...(the "real" Pakistan) is something they don't want to do against "their own (Punjabi) people", against people who might be cousins, second cousins, their relatives or relatives of their friends.

4. What will happen?

Who knows?

i. Pakistani regime will accede to the demands of these conservatives but highlight how powerful they are and show that Punjabi Islamists can dominate Pakistan through violence.

ii: Pakistani regime will try to use security forces and who knows what will happen after that....

iii: Punjabi army will come in (highly unlikely) but considering its very dark and shameful history that's fraught with risks.

Make no mistake however places such as Balochistan, Pakhtunkhwa, Karachi, east Pakistan are basically colonies of Punjabi-run Pakistan and can be burnt or see mass killings, such a thing will never be allowed to happen in the "core" (official Pakistani military doctrine) of the country, Punjab.

Paki Journo takes on ISI controlled news channel

Wow...thanks for sharing!

Makes perfect sense. Especially considering the fact that the Pakistan army cultivates Punjabi Islamists as state assets and these conservatives seem to be overreacting.

And are you aware that the so called Baloch Regiment of the Porki Army has only a sprinkling of Baloch? They are filled with Punjabis and Pathans!!

1. Yes, you are correct.

2. Baloch do not want to be part of Pakistan. Perhaps there are one or two pro-Pakistani nationalists but at the very least a big portion if not the majority want independence but they cannot say this openly in what is essentially a brutal military dictatorship.

3. Pakistani military doctrine officially teaches cadets that Punjab is the "strategic core" of the country and if Punjab falls then Pakistan falls.

This may not seem too bad considering it is the most populous region, but when you take in to consideration the fact that Pathan recruits are taunted for being homosexuals and stupid and if they were to dare retaliate with "Punjabi jokes", they would face disciplinary action i.e in other words its a Punjabi army where Pathans have to accept being humiliated and ridiculed, ,then you can see why it just adds to the overall de facto perpetuation of the army as a Punjabi army.

4. The Pakistan army are cowards and are not fighters. In east Pakistan in 1971 they spoke big, even of conquering Delhi and carried out huge massacres on an unarmed civilian population, then in just 11 days in December faced with a conventional army (India) they surrendered almost instantly.

The Japanese or Turks would have fought to the last man, fought with "honour" (in their eyes) but the Pakistani army refused to fight for "their" land. Raping and killing women and children was easy for them, but fighting armed men for "Muslim land" was too hard and they surrendered.

5. The Pakistani army's role as a huge financial racket, providing jobs for Punjabi men in a poverty-stricken society and also providing money, luxury mansions etc for their officers and retired personnel should not be underestimated.

If they are faced with a foe which is at least half their strength they will surrender like we saw in 1971.

Chill guys. Its just Nawaz Sharif and Army playing political games. Not a real civil war (so far).
You could well be right but...

1. It's embarrassing for the country and its image.
2. Discourages foreign investment and tourism.
3. Millions (who knows maybe billions) have been lost due to the suspension of online services (how many orders or business is done through facebook).

It's definitely done more damage than a couple of bombs dropped on Pakistan by India during a LOC skirmish.

People over there don't care about Economy or Development. There is only one difference between a Pakistani and Zombie.
Pakistani's are drilled with fake propaganda and crap while Zombies are affected by some crazy virus.
They don't have brain.

Now even the US is pissed off with Pak! One of the biggest terrorists has been let off by Paki courts as the Army/ISI combine have ordered the govt not to produce the dossiers handed over by India to Pak as evidence in connection with 26/11. What a frikkin' mockery of justice!
Nope - the US doesn't care.

The US response to Saeed's release is a feeble, templated response probably written up by some intern. It's just standard protest, nothing more.
Check this out. Different from the usual bluster from the US......

Re-arrest Hafiz or there will be repercussion: US to Pak
26 Nov 2017

The White House came down heavily on Pakistan for the release of its state-coddled Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Hafiz Saeed, warning that there will be “'repercussions for bilateral relations and for Pakistan’s global reputation” if he is not immediately re-arrested and prosecuted.

In an extraordinarily strong statement on the subject, the White House just stopped short of calling Pakistan a state sponsor of terrorism, saying the country’s failure to prosecute or charge Saeed, “sends a deeply troubling message about Pakistan’s commitment to combatting international terrorism and belies Pakistani claims that it will not provide sanctuary for terrorists on its soil.”

http://epaper.timesgroup.com/Olive/ODN/TimesOfIndia/#

However, it would be interesting to see what action the US would take against Pak as this sod is not going to be re-arrested anytime soon.

It seems Pak is stuck between a rock and a hard place.

I was thinking of opening a thread here basically asking Pakistanis why they have a problem with Bangladesh having normal relations with India e.g. trade, co-operation etc.

I was going to ask them what counts as a "Puppet state" and what counts as just normal relations, because the way I see it Pakistanis do not want any formal of normal relations between Bangladesh and India even if it is good for us and makes us improve our economy and development, what they want is complete hatred for India by Bangladesh.

I was going to try and engage in some semblance of "rational discussion" with them, but then I realised it would be pointless as all they would do is name call and use the silly slogans and pseudo-arguments they have been brainwashed with from youth including their fanatical hatred of Hindus and India.

Army Chief suggest Prime Minister not to deploy Army against sit-ins, as it can't use force against people of #Pakistan. Responsible be identified & Punished. Anarchy could compromise national cohesion, No add. troops being moved to Islamabad, Open media transmissions:Sources

Comment: "force" can however be used against rebels, civilians if they are Pakistani but do not happen to be Punjabi e.g.

- Pakistanis who are Baloch nationalists.
- Pakistanis who are Mohajirs.
- Pakistanis who are Waziri Pashtuns.

However the Pakistan army which used force against "its own" people in 1971 (Pakistani civilians of Bengali ethnicity) cannot dare to "use force against people of Pakistan", when the people in question are Punjabis.

As I said it's a Punjabi army for Punjab by Punjab.

For them Punjab is the real Pakistan, a few thousand destroyed homes in Waziristan, Pakhtunkhwa don't matter but no civil war/chaos can come to the "real Pakistan", Punjab.
