US defers delivery of AH-1Z Viper attack helicopters to Pakistan, to be put into storage

The first 3 AH-1Z Vipers that completed assembly out of the total 12 ordered have been embargoed and about to be put into storage.

The Naval Air Systems Command has issued a pre-solicitation notice for: "The continuation of the preservation, storage and de-preservation effort of three (3) AH-1Z helicopters. This effort is necessary to maintain the aircraft in a preservation state such that they will be able to return to flight following de-preservation."

The attack helicopters will be stored at the Bell Helicopters plant in Fort Worth. The new 120 day storage period follows on the previous stint slated to last until October 2018.

The twelve AH-1Zs were approved through the US Foreign Military Sale (FMS) programme, 3 in 2015 and the remaining 9 in 2016.

After reading this, it's safe to speculate that Pak is going ahead with #VT4 instead of #OplotP. Oplot is suffering from problems related to Gun stabilization, FCS & wiring insulation. Not to include Ukrainian questionable tank production capacity.

Apart from tanks, artillery and F-16s, these attack choppers are being used against the innocent men women and children of Balochistan. And these buggers cry themselves hoarse when we use non lethal assets like small pellet guns!!
