Re: India-Lanka love affair over Tamil corpses

We know rge ewffect of silent diplomacy. 40000 Tamil civilians massacred in a few months even as Indian military "observers" were present in the battle theater. Over 400 Tamilnadu fishermen shot and killed.

Actually it is not silent diplomacy. It is cowardly silent assistant to the massacre of Tamil civilians. What India did was silently train Lankan military. Silently fund the massacre. Silently give militatry hardware.
My hearty condolence to fellow tamilians first of all . I can understand the pain you are in being a tamilian

But these innocent people were killed in cold blood by srilankan army because of LTTE , if LTTE would not been there then this whole episode would have not arised

Indian govt funded LTTE not the srilankan army , more over we refused to supply high tech radars after which they went to chinese for the supply get your facts right

Yes we have nail Srilankan army & Srilankan govt but we have to keep focus on national interest as well

Well friends India has finally broke its silence on war crimes held in last stage of civil war in Sri Lanka by voting in UNHRC brought up by US . This shows there is turn come into our forign policy , becace "evil has only truimph till some good men are silent" , may be by this move India will help in bringing justic to the tamil population of Sri Lanka and this will also increase world's expection from India to play positive role in world politics

India had been tied hands when Srilanka played china card to acquire Indian military assistance in hardware..

Re: India-Lanka love affair over Tamil corpses

At the United Nations Universal Periodic Review, US, UK, France and Canada strongly criticized Sri Lanka on November 1 about not investigation the massacre of Tamil in 2009 and recent human rights violations. Iran, Pakistan, China and Russia supported Sri Lanka. One member was silent-India.
Reason being : Srilanka is killing people and involved in the massacre and human rights violations India knows that well. But still did not supported the West lobby a damn stupid and cowardly act!

Implement 13th amendment, India tells Sri Lanka - The Times of India

NEW DELHI: India on Friday told Sri Lanka categorically not to dilute a key constitutional provision that promises autonomy to the Tamil minority.

External affairs minister Salman Khurshid conveyed the message to Sri Lankan minister Basil Rajapaksa that Colombo should go beyond the 13th amendment to the constitution "to ensure meaningful development of Sri Lanka".

Basil Rajapaksa, a brother of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, arrived here on Thursday on a short visit to India to interact with Indian leaders as well as officials on issues of bilateral interest.

According to official sources, Khurshid welcomed Sri Lanka's decision to hold elections to the northern province, where for years the Tamil Tigers held sway.

The Indian minister emphasized the need "to fully implement the provisions of 13th amendment and to go beyond it so as to ensure meaningful development of Sri Lanka.
Khurshid strikes a much tougher stance towards Sri Lanka than he does towards China, the US, or any other large nation. This underscores SL's need to find a large nation as a security and economic partner. If India draws closer to Japan, then China should increase its ties with SL and Bangladesh.

It is high time India took a long hard look at its stand on whats happening in its neighborhood including in Sri Lanka. Our timid establishment's pimple tweezing and mud packs fail to touch the systemic sores. Now Sri Lanka is taking military training from Pakistan. And China has the port facility in Sri Lanka, which is as good as Pakistan sharing it. This guy Rajapakse needs to be "taught a lesson" (borrowing Chinese terminology). India needs to move aggressively in demanding the implementation of the 13th amendment which India helped bring about and also be firm on right of Indian fishermen. India should do aggressive patrolling on the seas between India and Sri Lanka. Hey, we cannot let Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bhutan shoot from Chinese shoulders. I am sure one aggressive action from India will force them to see reason.

Men like Khurshid are a liability upon any nation. As long as Congress regime is at helm, please do not expect any policy consistency or sanity from GoI.

Political expediency & catering to local constituency has been the norm. Just wait & watch.

Expect sweeping changes in India. Beneficial for all neighboring nations as well as Indo-China relations.

SC issues notice to Centre of Karunanidhi plea on Katchatheevu

SC issues notice to Centre of Karunanidhi plea on Katchatheevu | Business Standard

The Supreme Court today issued notice to Centre on DMK chief M Karunanidhi's plea seeking direction to government to retrieve island of Katchatheevu which was given to Sri Lanka in 1974 and make it as part of Tamil Nadu.

Agreeing to hear the plea, a bench headed by Chief Justice Altamas Kabir sought response from the Centre.

Karunanidhi, in his petition, urged the apex court to declare the agreement between India and Sri Lanka reached on June 26 and 28, 1974 and the accord of March 23, 1976, for giving Katchatheevu to Sri Lanka, as void and unconstitutional.

The petition said that Centre be directed to take appropriate actions to restore the pre-existing historic rights of the fishermen of Tamil Nadu to fish in the waters surrounding the island.

"The issue involved in this writ petition is the unconstitutional ceding of the island of Katchatheevu by the Prime Minister of India to the Island nation of Sri Lanka, completely disregarding the constitutional provisions and totally ignoring the federal polity of our country which is an integral part of the basic structure of the Constitution," the petition said.

Katchatheevu is an uninhabited island located about ten miles North East of Rameswaram on the Indian side and Nine miles of south of Delft Island on the Sri Lankan side. It has an area of 285.20 acres.

This is what India means. Unity. This is what we tried to convince the Sinhalese to accept through the 13th amendment to their constitution. They destroyed everything now...

We made one big blunder. And that is the purpose of IPKF. We should have disarmed SL in 1987 and held a referendum in Tamil areas asking for their choice on Independence... Or we could have annexed Tamil Areas into India.

We never did the right thing then, just as we let go the Pakistani POWs in 1971 without getting a permanent solution to the Kashmir issue. Now we have a Chinese client state in our south...
