The true story of the forgotten dive bomber of the RAF - the American-built Vultee Vengeance. This aircraft was built in the USA but served in the combat role with the RAF and Indian Air Force in Burma, with the French air force in North Africa and with the Royal Australian Air Force in the Pacific. With a feast of new facts and many rare and previously unpublished photos this is the complete history of this aircraft, unjustly derided by many "historians" who do not know the full facts, and subject to many myths which still persist today, the design, construction, and war history of this unique aircraft is given in full with a host of tables and appendices.

Hawker Hurricane: Hurricane IIc ( Trop ) serial KZ371 of No. 1 Sqn. Indian Air Force based in Bengal-Assam-Burma 1943-45. Standard RAF Temperate scheme, green-brown-sky, light grey codes.

Hurricanes equipped 8 squadrons of the IAF from 1942-45. Their light bombers were Vengeances. In Feb. 1944 a Hurricane of No. 6 Sqn. IAF shot down an Oscar, the only air victory for the IAF in WW2.

Lysander

The Westland Lysander II - Service in the Indian Air Force - Jagan Pillarisetti [www.bharat-rakshak.com]
The Westland Lysander equipped three of the four IAF Squadrons in its heyday - Indian pilots flew it into battle in the jungles of Burma to the hostile lands of the North Western Frontier. Seen here is a Lysander II of No.4 Squadron in late 1942, sporting bomb carriers under the stub wings, twin .303 inch Brownings in the rear cockpit. Not clearly visible in the picture are two forward firing Brownings installed in the main wheel spats, just above the main landing lights. Its good to see the old aircrafts were preserved very well.

I really would love to see Hawker Hunters and Sukhoi-30MKIs fly side by side. The role of Gnats and Hunter is currently filled by MKIs
