Can somebody please get that C0der to stop!

Why do we need every 3rd thread to be about obscure 20-20 competitions in South Africa or what Dhoni is eating or how many wickets tumbled in Abu Dhabi?

It's pissing me off!
Its a bot activated in his name. LOL...

On other note, does the invitation to PAK PM is anyway an attempt to reduce security risk against any terrorist attack in Mohali?

Not sure, it can also turn into a boomerang. Just a weird thought...

We only wanted a cricket match.....

Army, missiles deployed in Mohali

Anti-aircraft missiles, guns and robotic bomb-disposal units will be deployed in and around Mohali ahead of Wednesday's diplomacy-laced cricket encounter between India and Pakistan that'll be watched by the political who's who from the two sub-continental rivals, defence sources said.

While the missiles will be deployed by the Army's Western Command around the stadium to foil any airborne terrorist attack, the bomb disposal units will be equipped with British-made remote-operated vehicles (ROVs) built to defuse powerful explosive devices.

Several columns of troops from the Western Command at Chandimandir are on alert to deal with any eventuality.

Pakistan PM Yousaf Raza Gilani is scheduled to fly into Chandigarh on Wednesday morning just ahead of Manmohan Singh's arrival. It will be the first meeting of the two leaders after the ghastly 26/11 attack on Mumbai by Pakistani terrorist soured the peace process. Wednesday's meeting between the two leaders has been described by officials as "informal"

But the fact that Congress chief Sonia Gandhi will also be in the VIP stands along with Singh and Gilani goes to prove that the party fully backs the PM's peace initiative.

While Gilani will be accompanied by a 50-member delegation, the Indian side will include foreign secretary Nirupama Rao.

The decision to rope in the Army for security was taken at a joint meeting of security agencies at the Punjab Raj Bhawan on Monday morning. Those attending the meeting chaired by Governor Shivraj Patil included top brass of the Western Command.

Sources said help was sought in view of a heightened threat perception by intelligence agencies and apprehensions of a terror attack. The National Technical Research Organization has already been assigned air surveillance and air intelligence interceptions tasks in coordination with the Air Force.

Wankhade will host WC final so no point in hosting semi in there. I dont know about Eden garden but still there are lot of good renovated cricket stadiums in India which has capacity around 50k.

Mohali sucks mate!! It must not have selected for hosting WC semi.
FYI, Mohali is one of the best stadiums of India. It's not just capacity that is taken into account while stadiums are awarded matches, but overall quality.

Sunil gavaskar's statement is cheeky one, too much loaded, it seems he is not confident of India team winning

Biggest disservice done to the game this. Keep diplomacy off cricket. And who are they deploying the missiles for? do they fear taliban might kill the pak leadership here on indian soil?
And i also hope they dont talk about and start another round of playing bilateral series with Pakistan that will only be stopped with the next terror attack.

Capacity does play a major role in selecting venues. FYI this is the mother of all cricket games :D

When and where did he say that? Link????
http://www.rediff.com/news/slide-sh...-pakistan-wins-the-wc-semi-final/20110329.htm

In this context, it would be pertinent to note what Sunil Gavaskar, himself a Mumbaikar, had to say on a talk show when he was asked whether Pakistan would lose the semi-final.

He said, "I doubt whether Pakistan would lose the Mohali game; Pakistanis have a special fascination for Mumbai. They keep sneaking into Mumbai by whatever route they can find and which is available. So I would not be surprised if they do it again and reach Mumbai again."

Certainly a hard hitting left hand drive from the little master who comes from a city where the wounds of 2008 carnage have still not healed, a fact which Dr Singh seems to have forgotten about.

Well it is a nice gesture on part of the GoI. Pakistan has many things to learn and this is one of them. Even after continued attacks on Indian soil and citizenry, MMS has taken the first step. Now it's Pakistan who needs to do it's bit. Every other Indian PM has his eyes set on the Nobel peace prize, and want to go down in history as the visionary who solved the Kashmir imbroglio!

You are trying to solve the unsolvable. Last time one PM went to Pak and hugged its PM and came back to send our boys to the mountains to evict Pak soldiers and terrorists from our soil. Wonder what Kiyani will present us in return this time.
Again NO TO CRICKET DIPLOMACY.

I know, and I am not trying to solve anything. You know it well which method I would have chosen had I been in the rightful position. Btw, inviting the Pakistani PM for the match is a good gesture. Mixing politics with cricket is not. And it is the media who has this uncanny habit of mixing these two.

O its a torrential rain passing by. Will be OK at the start of the match. We should play the same combination we played against the Australians. 2 spinners and 2 pacers.
