From Dassault's website:
https://www.dassault-aviation.com/en/defense/rafale/a-wide-range-of-smart-and-discrete-sensors/

Developed by Thales, the “Front Sector Optronics” (FSO) system is fully integrated into the aircraft. Operating in the optronic wavelengths, it is immune to radar jamming and it provides covert long-range detection and identification, high resolution angular tracking and laser range-finding for air, sea and ground targets.

The FSO’s powerful TV sensor (cued by the Rafale’s active and passive sensors) is truly valuable to positively identify targets in situations where a visual contact is required by the rules of engagement.
No mention of IRST.

This is another source:
http://rafale.co.in/a-formidable-de...nics-passive-long-distance-identification.php

The internal Front Sector Optronics (FSO) provides a tele-lens picture of the target (ground or airborne) with range measured by the incorporated laser.

The covert approach capability of the FSO is especially valuable in air policing and intercepts, where the TV picture of the target provides early visual identification and detection of suspect manoeuvres.
From what I am given to understand, the first version of FSO had both IRST and TV sensors, and in the second version, IRST was removed to save costs and Mica's IR sensor was supposed to perform job of IRST.

So wait, there are 100 F-35s at various levels of planned production and if Turkey gets dropped, there are a whole lot which can be hand in a space of under 4-5 years. I wonder which AF needs over a 100 fighters ideally yesterday...hmmm
Israel, Australia, Japan, Canada.

India won't as we will have Su 57 by 2026-27.

That IAF has ordered s400 too which is the reason why turkey can't have f35 in the first place.

How will we have su57 by 2026-27 when we have left the fgfa and their is no program to directly procure su57.

I see that you haven't responded to my sources from Dassault's own website, instead relying on a blog in Thailand.

Here you go for another source about OSF-IT not having IRST:
https://www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/radar-and-optronics-will-define-future-rafale-214754/

Also a French source, which clearly mentions that IRST has been removed in OSF-IT

Turkey is treated as an unwashed Abdul which very different to how India is treated. US would pack up in Turkey for all they care. It's one of the fastest growing shitholes of that region.

And how will USA justify that s400 and f35 can both work in India but not in Turkey??

It is easy to tell if your Rafale has an IR channel or not, if it has one nose extrusion it doesn't, if it has two nose extrusions it does.

Here's what Japan says happened to the F-35 that mysteriously disappeared in the Pacific

    • The Japanese defense ministry on Monday said it believed the F-35A Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter lost in April occurred after the 41-year-old pilot, Maj. Akinori Hosomi, succumbed to "vertigo or spatial disorientation."

  • The aircraft, following a rapid descent from a high altitude, disappeared from radar on April 9 while flying at speeds of almost 700 mph only 1,000 feet above the Pacific Ocean.
  • The pilot, pronounced dead last week, did not send out a distress signal, try to eject, or respond to warnings from the fighter's proximity sensors, which were presumably alerting him of an imminent collision.
  • While the ministry has ruled out a loss of consciousness or any technical problems with the fifth-generation fighter, all of Japan's F-35s remain grounded while pilots retrain critical skills.
  • Japan has officially called off its search for the missing fighter jet, which the defense ministry reports was destroyed in the crash.

Pentagon gets 8.8% discount in $34 billion F-35 jet deal

This year’s agreement will lower the cost of each F-35A, the most common version of the aircraft, to $81.35 million, Under Secretary of Defense Ellen Lord said, down from $89.2 million under a deal inked in August 2018.

Under the options covering the second and third years of the purchase, the price of each jet will drop below $80 million, Lord said. In those later years production would be around 160 jets per year.

That's fly away cost of the best multi-role fighter in the World at the moment! And it's about to get cheaper below $80M in 2-3 years!
