A suspected IED explosion inside a car of the St. Petersburg Metro system has resulted in casualties among passengers, according to the transit system’s management. An evacuation is underway and some stations have been closed for entry.
Preliminary reports indicate that some 10 people may have been killed and 20 injured in the blast, news agencies said citing sources close to the investigation.

The incident reportedly happened at the Sennaya station of the northwestern Russian city’s underground transit system.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has pledged a thorough investigation.

We are considering all possible causes, including terrorism,” he said in a statement.

At least eight stations of the metro have been closed for passengers

Some of the images show several bodies lying next to the damaged car, with blood apparently spilt on a bench.

RIA Novosti said evacuation of people from the affected area was underway.

The metro management said they received reports of an explosion inside the car, possibly of an improvised explosive device.

Photos taken near the Sennaya Ploshchad station entry showed firefighter vehicles involved in responding to the emergency.

REN TV has published photos of an alleged terrorist who has arranged explosion in the underground of St. Petersburg
in the blast died at least 9 people.

REN TV has published photos of alleged terrorist who bombed metro Petersburg. The man left the backpack in the car and left.

As seen in the picture, taken with the camera surveillance, the man has a beard. He was wearing a hat. Law enforcers do not exclude that a man dressed in this way on purpose to mislead the investigation.

As previously reported by eyewitnesses, the man threw the backpack in the car and left. After that explosion.

As it became known REN TV, alleged terrorists went to the metro station "Sennaya" and left the car.

The photo also neutralized IEDs. Apparently it is disguised as a fire extinguisher.

This could be work of Chechens or ISIS or this could be some inside job to divert attention from economic strife. You never know with Russia.

dy bombs their people to divert attention. Putin to Russia is like Modi to India. Merkel is losing her Chancellorship this election and the western liberal media desperately want an opposition to him.

BISHKEK, April 4. /TASS/. Kyrgyzstan’s National Security Committee maintains contacts with the Russian special services investigating the terrorist attack in the St. Petersburg subway, the committee’s spokesman, Rakhat Sulaimanov, told TASS on Tuesday.

"It has been established that an individual suspected of carrying out a terrorist attack is a native of our republic," he said. According to Sulaimanov, it is also known that he was granted Russian citizenship some time ago.

An unidentified device went off at about 14:40 Moscow time on Monday in a subway train car when the train was moving from Tekhnologichesky Institut Station to Sennaya Ploshchad Station. The Russian Investigative Committee has qualified the blast as a terrorist attack, but other versions are looked into as well.

According to the National Anti-Terrorism Committee, the blast claimed 11 lives. The Russian Emergencies Ministry’s Regional Department in St. Petersburg said 51 people were injured. It provided no information on the number of those killed in the blast
