Air India plane in near miss as Pakistan ATC gives incorrect information

HYDERABAD: In a mid-air scare, "incorrect" input by Pakistan's air traffic control to a Mumbai-bound Air India Dreamliner plane from London led it to come close to another aircraft, prompting a sharp reaction from India.

The Mumbai-bound Air India flight AI-130 from London's Heathrow Airport on Tuesday escaped a near miss incident after the Karachi Air Traffic Control (ATC) gave pilot a wrong frequency that could have changed the flight path of the Boeing 787 and brought it close to Philippine's Cebu Airline from Dubai..........................................................................................................................

It appears they gave wrong ETA to Mumbai ATC also. Such vile behaviour !! This appears to be completely deliberate.

Yes it is. They're sole reason to exist is to annoy India.

Most probably a human error, it happens all over the world including India.
Luckily a human tragedy was averted and the plane landed safely.

Given how Chennai sector master-ATC's area of influence extends all the way till Nizamabad in Telangana (370 nautical miles), beyond which Nagpur sector master-ATC takes over, I don't see why India can't set up a master ATC about 50 miles west of Bhuj in Gujarat, so our aircraft inbound from Europe don't get trolled by Karachi, with radars in Oman.

Well, ATC/civil aviation is one aspect where the ATC does not play with the lives of human beings, no matter how severe the enmity is between two nations. This is a holy rule in aviation. A coordinated action by ATC staff to deliberately try to induce a collision between two aircraft is just not possible.

This was not deliberate, but blithering incompetence. The people in charge there that day need a hard kick on their butts, and suspension without pay for a month or so... that should do.
