:tsk::tsk::tsk:

my area of concern was to protect expensive millitary equipment and troops along with border
Why would India keep expensive equipment within Pak Arty range ?

And why would India need to protect troops, whenever doctrine is to make rapid ingress into enemy territory ?

I thought to continue making rapid ingress, the troops would have to be protected from a crippling nuclear strike no? Pakis being maniac bastards they are will have no hesitation in launching short range nukes when that happens.

Though I am not aware if and how Iron dome will work in such a scenario.

Iron dome will not protect against missiles.
Iron Dome - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pakistanis have already written about detonating a tactical nuke within their borders to halt a cold start advance.
Chicken's Neck (Pakistan) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia for eg. is the strip of de facto Pakistani territory which extends into Indian borders.

I doubt the capability of Iron dome. It is not foolproof against hamas's primitive cheap homemade rocket. Forget about 155mm Artillery shell. And even worse than that, it cost US$90,000 per missile.

This is a bad idea. The Dome would be a half accurate overkill at a high cost.
Our artillery should be improved instead. Any mischiefs could be replied to, without even crossing the international border / LOC.

If accepting welfare makes you smart, Pakistan must be genius!
Off course. But they are smart idiots. Israel respects the money it gets and makes their country better. Pakistan bites the hand that feeds it. Pakis squander every dollar it gets usually by makin weapons targeting india especially nuclear weapons.

We will need thousands of these then if we are to defend every village.

hahaha!
First we say, disproportionate use of force is unacceptable and then shamelessly ask Israelis for Iron Dome, WTF is going on ?... I think our foreign policy is becoming worst than paki's.
First off, we haven't yet 'asked' the Israelis for the Iron Dome. We have just "eyed' it.

Secondly, how do you figure asking Israel for the Iron Dome contravene statements of proportionate reprisal and/or impact foreign policy?

I doubt the capability of Iron dome. It is not foolproof against hamas's primitive cheap homemade rocket. Forget about 155mm Artillery shell. And even worse than that, it cost US$90,000 per missile.
How do you arrive at USD90,000 per missile? Isn't it closer to USD 40,000?

@ontopic,

I can think of the 'Iron Dome' as being useful in several situations: protecting large ammunition dumps, for example, near the border in a Kargil-like skirmish; or protecting airfields and landing strips in border-adjacent regions in the north-east; or protecting key-towns like Amritsar or Tawang against Battlefield-range BM's like the Hatf, Nasr and CSS-7/8.

However, it is not economically viable. And viability is an important part of usefulness.

Both nations have sacrificed sovereignty in order to leach off the US. Israel has its hands tied on Iran while Pakistan is violated anally.

Rafael and the Israel Missile Defence Organisation (IMDO) on 25 November performed a successful test of a new long-range rocket interceptor system, David's Sling, just days after the conclusion of its Pillar of Defense operation against Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip.

Conducted at a test range in southern Israel, the activity included using a radar developed by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) subsidiary Elta Systems, while a long-range target rocket was detected using other sensors. A "stunner" interceptor was launched seconds later and destroyed the simulated threat, with sources saying the inert, 4.6m-long weapon achieved a kinetic hit.

The defensive missile uses a multi-pulse rocket motor and features a so-called "dolphin head" nose section, which houses a dual-seeker capability. Rafael says the latter can function simultaneously with no interference, even under extremes such as adverse weather conditions and against countermeasures.

Uzi Rubin, former head of the IMDO, says the use of a "hit to kill" interceptor allows the operator to verify the destruction of the threat. "This is a very critical piece of information in the intercept sequence," he notes. The system's radar will be used as the main sensor in future tests.

Representatives of the US Missile Defense Agency were present during the test. Washington is partially funding the development of the system, while Raytheon is a subcontractor to Rafael.

Also referred to as Magic Wand and designed to intercept rockets with a range of between 38nm (70km) and 135nm, the system represents the second tier of Israel's multi-layered defence infrastructure, which is being put in place to protect its territory against attack using rockets and ballistic missiles.

Sources say the capabilities of David's Sling will increase in the future, for example by also being able to engage cruise missiles, with one source adding: "threats are changing".

Israel's Arrow-2 and Arrow-3 batteries provide protection against ballistic missile attack, while the Rafael/IAI Iron Dome anti-rocket system demonstrated a success rate of almost 90% during the recent eight-day conflict with Hamas. Five of the latter, short-range systems are now in use by the Israeli air force.
