You got it all wrong. We want to explore Vietnamese (corrigendum: international) waters. PRC needs to quit poking its nose in places where it is not supposed to be. We are not backing Vietnam against PRC, but will retaliate to any kind of covert or overt aggression, in a graduated response.

Well China is working in POK which is disputed area, India did ask China to stop it but China didn't. But India is exploring in Vietnam sea not in disputed water, so china shouldn't be bother with this. even is disputed then we are doing same in Vietrnam what China is doing in POK !
