Dont know. Insas were sold at 22k or 26k INR per peice couple of years back which still was couole of thousands costlier than bulgarian ARM1s. Dont know how they could rifles at almost 4 times that price to police forces

Thanks for writing this.I too wanted to highlight the issue, but was too lazy and busy to write anything on crappy Insas. Buying either ghatak or TAR would have made sense, but buying Insas for police forces at such high prices was totally unjust...

Not every frontline unit is going to ve equipped with Sigs, but only those at Rajasthan, Punjab & Glacier etx where a weapon with long range is a necessity. For rest of the troops in Kashmir, NE and hinterland, range doesnt matter much but stopping power.

Sill it's kicks some serious ass. Making that round was not a problem, but issue was that there was not much demand so it was not economical to set up assembly lines .But now as more T90s are coming and demand from SF for 7.62x54 round increased, they set up the line

Dont worry, Ak203 is going to solve all those issues and Ghatak will get a premature demise thanks to .Idiotic decisions of OFB.

This was a much awaited upgrade. SVDs could serve another decade with such upgrades as it solves almost all the shortcomings of it like no rails, bipods, pso scopes and non adjustable stocks. Still they could have reduced the barrel length or cpuld have gone for a heavier and shorter barrel

Due to the lessons learned from SriLanka where both full auto and semi auto SLRs were not a match for light weight and less recoil Aks..Heavy weight, less ammo carrying capacity, comparativel high recoil ,are all going to be negatives. Also CT ops happen with in 100 mts ,so long range of 7.62 Nato...

    Small arms of India

Did they changed the barrell or just added a muzzle brake or flash hider? What type of buttstock is that? Is that a side folder or a 4 point retractable or collapsible telescopic one as we are seeing with M4?Did it have bufferstock to absorb recoil? Does this upgraded receiver cover addresses...

    Small arms of India

It could have been turned into.a good battle rifle, but turning FNFAL into a good DMR when compared with SVD/Galil is doubtful.SVDs are in good numbers plus SLRs have a bad reputation in the role of a marksman rifle.SLRs sucked in the role of a marksman rifle that's why Brits retained Lee...

What is the need for JVPC in the era of short barrelled rifles ? Apart from designed by Ofb/ Drdo there is no merit in selecting it.As the new age short barellef ARs in 5.56x45 could do that role minimising need of creating a new ammo assembly line and new set of spare parts . The carbines and...
