by 2025 it should be:As the title suggests: What would be your dream composition of IAF in the year 2025 ?
we are operating 7 Ilyushin Il-78 as of now not sure which one are we planning or how long are we planning to use them....You have missed out very crucial mid air refuelers
i have reservations on both availabilty
- >320+ Su-30MKI with 20% undergoing upgrades
- At least 96 Dasault Rafale inducted, orders placed for another 96~128
- At least 112 Tejas MK2 manufactured
- Tejas MK1 fleet converted as trainers and given to the various IAF flight and air-warfare academies (Yelahanka, Dundigul, Hakimpet, etc.), to augment the 90 HAWKs
- 54 MiG-29, either undergoing upgrades, or being modified to MiG-29K, and transferred to the Navy for IAC-1. They're going to squeeze another decade out of Viraat just for the heck of operating >2 ACs (IOR psy-ops), which means the Navy will need aircraft.
- 48 Mirage-2000-5 MK2
- At least 96 Jaguars
- 8~16 5th gen aircraft
- 12~16 Su-34 bomber-config, in case we start bombing Paki ground targets in the wake of a 26/11-esque incident. It never hurts to have an agile supersonic-capable bomber.
- 12~16 big ground-attack jets such as the A10. US is decommissioning its A10 "Warthog" fleet, and if we could land ourselves a sweet refurbish-purchase deal, it could be awesome
- 16~24 C17-Globemasters
- 12~16 C130J
- 9~12 large (Phalcon) AWACS aircraft
- 12~16 mid-air refuellers, start retrofitting the Il-78 fleet
- 90~110 LCH
- 90 AH-64D
- 120 Mi-17
- 200-ish Dhruv
- 32 CH-47
- 150 Chetak
You have listed out approx number of aircrafts IAF would actually have in 2025. The title of the thread is "Dream Composition".by 2025 it should be:
270+ Su 30 MKI
36 Rafale
~50 Mirage
100 SEPECAT Jaguar
~60 Mig 29
80+ Tejas Mk1
100+ Tejas MK2(More in production)
90+ FGFA
30+ Apache
70+ Antonov An-32 Cline
15 C-17 Globemaster
11 C-130J Super Hercules
6 Boeing 737
60+ Dornier Do 228
8+ Beriev A-50 Phalcon
10+ EMB-145 AEWCS
50+ HAL Rudra
80+ HAL Light Combat Helicopter
20+ Boeing CH-47 Chinook
100+ HAL Dhruv
Then AMCA about to enter production , Tejas MK2 and FGFA in production.
Not sure which transport aircrafts will be added and how many.
If I miss any please let me know.
Now thats what we will call a DREAM.You have listed out approx number of aircrafts IAF would actually have in 2025. The title of the thread is "Dream Composition".
My choice would be (excluding those which IAF could not have for any reason):
1) LCA Tejas Mk2 => 40 squadrons or 800+
2) Su 30 MKI upgraded to Super Sukhoi => 20 squadrons or 400+
3) FGFA => 10 squadrons or 200+
4) LCA Tejas Mk1 (as Lead-In Fighter Trainer) => 5 squadrons or 100+
5) AWACS, AEWCS, Mid-Air Refuelers => As necessary for Operation
6) Helicopters (LCH, Rudra, Dhruv, Apache, Chinook, Mi-28 etc) => 400+ or even more as required
7) UCAV (AURA, Rustom 2 or any other Skat/Neuron types) => 50 squadrons or 1000+
As the title suggests: What would be your dream composition of IAF in the year 2025 ?
Yes.......... Agreed, but I propose a substitution of minimum 15 squadrons of AMCA & addition of 25 squadrons of AURA.Just buy 65 squadrons of LCA.
