If 2019 could not wake up IAF into finalizing MRFA, nothing will. Now we are at a couple of self-inflicted dilemmas - 1) generational dilemma with 4.5 gen v/s 5th gen 2) domestic Tejas v/s foreign maal. In a short sharp skirmish post 2030s, expect PAF to hand us our ass all over again. Chances are it will always be a quick skirmish as wars between nuke powers will not drag on as the world will never let it move up the escalation ladder.

If 2019 could not wake up IAF into finalizing MRFA, nothing will.

MRFA was deemed a cancelled project long ago by GoI. Only IAF insisted to keep it open as an option for wartime.
In ordinary future, the last Rafael deal was the last fighter jet import of India and bulk IAF fleet shall now only be formed of Tejas variants, Super Sukhois, may be ORCAs and small numbers of AMCA.

180 Tejas on order before arrival of Mk2 is enough for clarity what GoI is going to do.

People tend to forget that PAF has to decommission approximately 250 F- 7s, mirages and they are actually shrinking in terms of aircraft. PAF has a victory disease since 2019 and tend to forget that india did learn and changed a lot.we have more longer airdefences and our A2A missiles are of similar range or more range than them.
