I am a Civil Engineer from IIT D. Not a military man, I do or rather did have friends in Corps of Engineers, EME and Signals etc. Most have retired, as I did.
My g'pa retired retired as Subedar Major in 1946. What an SM, in 1946, was you will know when you know that he was the first SM in the District of Ludhiana. Later, my father joined Army, but after 6 years he left it for life in Civil service.
Later, much later, my cousin, chacha's son, got into IMA, and now is a Brig.
Now, my profession. Can a Civil Engineer be expected not to know about the workings of Corps of Eng? And COE is an offensive and combatant Corps.
But I am an engineer, brutally practical.

PG D in Remote Sensing from IIP, NRSA.
M. Sc. in Theoretical Statistics.
Huh. Author of a book on Practical Statistics, which gave me satisfaction, but not enough satisfaction and cash.
Two Algorithms by me acknowledged in Hydrology world.
ZERO RESPECT in Old Boys Meetings. Boys young enough to be my sons are NO LONGER respectful, and it galls. But my PEERS? But then, there, we behave like juveniles, tough when your daughter in law is present. Haha.
