Can we please put an end to this soldier/policeman debate? A bullet will kill, doesn't matter whether the target is a soldier or policeman. All the "police" designation has to do with international compliance. De jure, BSF, CRPF, ITBP, etc., are policemen, but de facto, they are soldiers...

You can see how India responded to the Mumbai attacks. NSG was used to fight its way into buildings, and also hostage/personnel rescue. It is true, infantry training is different, and also, NSG's Special Action Group recruits from the Army.

@rkhanna & @Navnit Kundu, It is true that having exposed fingers gives a better feel of the slack. Gloves with exposed fingers are called glovelettes. Many motorcyclists also use glovelettes. Weightlifters also use glovelettes. In cold weather, one has to use a proper glove with the fingers...

Many people prefer wooden furniture over modern polymer furniture because apparently wood gives a better feel in the hand and soaks up sweat (not sure how much of that is true).

You are correct. NSG is trained in their own way. On the other hand, NSG is trained to operate in urbanized locations. An infantry unit is not the best option in this case. In the case of the recent attacks in Pampore, you will see it is a pretty built up area. So, NSG is not entirely...

One battalion is assigned to RR, and RR is involved in COIN. I agree in principle with what you are saying though.

Parachute Regiment is better trained and reduces the chance of casualties. Casualties will result in political blowback on the government. You must have seen how the people started abusing Modi after the Uri attack?

I see, for covert operations. Makes sense. Will do when I free up a bit. Just a heads up, I will begin with NAL.

Thanks for informing me. Frankly, DRDO gets full credits from me, because parachutes are defence requirements. Now the question is, why are we still importing parachutes? (Not criticising DRDO here.) P.S.: I will share later some of the things happening in DRDO and other Defense Laboratories...

I think it is necessary to highlight that DRDO has its priorities messed up. Why does it bother you so much whenever DRDO is criticised? Why are you taking it personally? I am criticising DRDO, and they deserve it. They need to get their act together.

My point exactly. Apparently, they are tying up with the railways to make toilets. Pathetic! Ok, now back to my senses, no I don't think they should be shot. This is a saving grace.

Not sure what you are talking about, but here's my take: I wouldn't shoot a sniper rifle like that. The scope could hit my face and break my facial bones. I am pretty sure not all of the video is of the Indian Navy. Some of those fellers looked like Russians.

Exactly. CISF is not as 'lethal' as MARCOS. CISF is not a commando force.

Are these CISF, or MARCOS or Naval Commandos? Or a mix and match of everything?

Could be but I am not sure what part of IAF these are from. All I can see is that their badges look very similar to the IAF badge. I cannot be more specific.
