    India's Moon Exploration Program

Me thinks any future manned moon mission by us would involve a space craft that is assembled in orbit from 3 50 tonne parts . For which an orbital space station and orbital docking expertise is required . I highly doubt that we will invest in a starship scale rocket even by the 2040s . This is...

Nope .. Sleep means everything is shut down . Restart will only happen if it detects power from the solar panels.

Nothing so conspiratorial, it simply means that the lander and rover have not been rated to survive the lunar night so they cannot make any guarantees. There is no frost on the moon , so as long as no connections snap due to contraction it should be fine. Most likely failure case IMO are the...

For that you need a long march 5 class rocket unfortunately.

If rover is confirmed then it looks like ISRO has gained confidence in landers. As per news from 2021 mangalyaan 2 is only a orbital mission...

Very promising for the application of buried conductors coupled with heat pumps. It will help any permanent station to regulate its temperature including keeping stored hydrogen and oxygen liquid.

The lunar night is very cold .right now the sun is up

    India's Moon Exploration Program

If true this is fantastic for manned outpost . As that fine moon dust is sharpedged unlike on earth where fine particles are a result of erosion and hence rounder . This dust makes equipment fail very fast .. like the nasa spacesuits could only last a few days in the environment. If CH3 found a...

Well this uses chemical bombs (which sends out a shockwave even in vacuum)to prove the concept . And this is within the atmosphere . I remember reading that this concept actually helped the Americans to improve their nuclear weapons specially in miniaturisation and a directional bomb (the nuke...

I had the same doubt.. apparently the bomb itself includes the reaction mass.

The vid uses ion thrusters for comparison . It shows the time mass etc needed for a thermal nuclear engine and proposes that this be supplemented ion thrusters to achive a low transit time to Mars .

I for once want them to figure out metalic hydrogen so that we can a single stage to orbit aircraft finally .. but alas .. this too falls under the if only we could harness this category.

Bruh.. nobody is trying to launch a nuclear powered rocket from the ground . They will send it to a high orbit before starting it. Fission engines already exist and fusion is always 20 years away

ISRO designs rockets for normal space activities like comm satellites and earth observation.. the only reason sc 200 is even a thing is because of the need for 6 tons to GTO for newer comm satellites .And NGLV is a thing because of falcon 9 and it's success.
