Good they are making guns, but I hope this does not come in the way of urgently acquiring these guns. India has bought so many weapons systems since 1987 and expensive ones too but the damn curse of Bofors does not allow us to buy arty.

Damn this is not good news. Why was the RFP changed to relax the stringent requirement? The gun is really good and had a great chance to win. Also they have their indian partner in Mahindra to take care of offset. Pretty depressing news this is.

MRLS too have evolved. They are used in bunker buster mode as well. They can take out convoys in air burst mode. Modern systems are pretty much accurate. We are working on guided rockets too. Again I don't say we don't need guns, but may be not to the tune of thousands. May be another FMS...

If you read the comparison i gave earlier, an MLRS is more effective than a howitzer. It is able to fire a variety of munitions. India has its own system called Pinaka and Russian Smerch.

FMS means that the supplier will supplier at the same rate as they do to the US armed forces. So it should not be at any cost which is way too high.
