In keeping with the directives of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to provide assistance to the people of Pakistan and to support technical and vocational education there, the UAE Project to Assist Pakistan (UPAP) has announced completion of Technical College at Bajaur in Pakistan at a total cost of Dh12.5 million.

The project was delivered to the local government in Bajaur following completion.

The official inauguration of the college was attended by Chief of Pakistan Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, UAE Ambassador to Pakistan Essa Abdullah Al Basha Al Nuaimi, Abdullah Khalifa Al Gafli, director of the UPAP and senior Pakistani officials.

The celebration started with a summary about the importance of the project and the future benefit of this college for the people of the region.

The phases of building the college and equipping it were also touched upon after the college's director praised and thanked the efforts of Shaikh Khalifa in supporting and backing the people of Pakistan.

He also pointed out the importance of the technical college in backing the youth in the vicinity to develop them scientifically, vocationally, and technically, while assisting them in depending on themselves in work, production and self development.

The college is built on a 34,000 square-foot area and will provide diploma level technical education for up to 450 students in various disciplines of engineering including electrical, mechanical, civil and mining.

The college also includes lecture halls, workshops, and laboratories that have been supplied with the latest equipment and advanced tools and applications for learning and training. The college also has the capacity of training and graduating 150 students every year, where the duration of studying takes up to three years, after which the student obtains a diploma in the field of his expertise.

Al Gafli noted in his speech that the UAE project will play an essential role in backing development in all industrial, agricultural, and production fields in the country, as preparing well trained cadres in the field of technology is a key factor in comprehensive development

BTW recently UAE been accused supporting and funding Taliban ,who destroy all schools in pak and on the other hand ,funding to build school

Dh 12.5mil, how much is it in dollar term? Millions of Indians living on remittance back home from the Gulf just makes it even. The security Pakistan's military might provides is much worth it.

I believe you have whole areas with airstrips handed over to nahyans and sauds, isn;t it. In fact the drones killing Pakistanis have been using those airstrips.
