They know weakness of krishna and i think she can get anything done including visa norm
It is true that he is very old and weak but Pakistan honours diplomatic norms and will give him due protocol. You have also late Mrs Indra Gandhi, who was great leader. She was also good in negotiations. Sonia Gandhi is also good but she is Italian not an Indian.

Good statistics. Remaining 10%, who are not terrorists, are those who have recently illegally migrated to Pakistan.
Where from have they illegally migrated? India? Well, Pakistan do share the honor of celebrating and granting privileges to known terrorists. Dawood Ibrahim is one high profile name. Osama Bin Laden, another.

In order to bring them out from the stigma of terrorists, there is only one step formula..... just exclude "professing sentiments of religious fundamentalism" from one of the several hundred definitions of terrorists. Believing that non-Muslims are not Muslims and should be barred from entering Mosque or Holy places also accounts to terrorism in the eyes of western world....
Pakistan, first of all, needs to erase religious hatred from the textbooks of school curriculum. When people grow up reading hate, it occupies a corner in the mindset, which later is very difficult to reason with.

Posts reported for spreading hatred. There is no value in such posts and should be avoided.
Are you kidding me? Spreading hatred? :pound:

/\/\/\ From OP - While no substantive outcome is expected from the visit, both the countries are likely to sign a new liberalised visa agreement which would be a boost for people-to-people contact.

I do not see any gains for India. While talks for CBM are in place with high level meetings, PA continues to violate the peace process by firing at Indian posts along the LoC. This to me is a no brainer as to where the PA stands with respect to India, and it's differences with the civilian Government of Pakistan.

Pakistan releases all Indian fishermen

Pakistan on Saturday released all Indian fishermen in its jails as a goodwill gesture for External Affairs Minister S M Krishna's visit here.

"All Indian fishermen have been released -- those who have completed their jail terms and those who are still serving," Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar said at a joint press conference with her visiting Indian counterpart S.M. Krishna.

Mr. Krishna thanked the Pakistan government for the "wonderful gesture" of releasing all Indian fishermen. "I hope their boats and trawlers are also released," he said.

Earlier in the day, the announcement in this regard was made by Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik after signing the new liberalised visa agreement with Krishna.

Over 80 Indian fishermen were in Pakistani jails while some 120 Pakistani fishermen were in Indian jails.

Last month also, Pakistan had freed 55 Indian fishermen as a "goodwill gesture" on the occasion of India's Independence Day.

On the visa agreement, Mr. Malik said it was signed as a "gesture of friendship".

"We have liberalised most of the things. It's a very significant move," he said.

Speaking on the issue of terrorism, Mr. Malik said more cooperation was needed between the two countries to tackle the threat from the sea route.

"There was need to have more cooperation, but if we could have stopped sea-borne terrorists, we would have stopped the terror here also," he said asserting that terrorists have no religion.

His remarks came on a day when Prime Minister Manmohan Singh pitched for a comprehensive maritime policy to maintain vigil along the Indian coastal line.

"...There are also indications about terrorist groups maintaining their ability to use the sea route. Vigilance, therefore, needs to be exercised not only on our land borders but along the coast line as well," Dr. Singh said at a meeting of top Indian police officers in New Delhi.

India and Pak sign new liberalized visa agreement

ISLAMABAD: India and Pakistan today signed the much-awaited liberalized visa agreement, introducing for the first time group tourist and pilgrim visas, separate visa for businessmen and visa on arrival for those over 65 years of age.

The new pact, signed between external affairs minister S M Krishna and Pakistan interior minister Rehman Malik, replaces a 38-year-old restrictive visa agreement and will pave the way for time-bound visa approval and greater people to people contacts and boost trade.

While there was no time-frame for issuance of non-diplomatic visas, the new pact says that visa has to be issued with a period of not exceeding 45 days of application.

Under the new regime, one can visit five places instead of the three at present and those above 65 years of age and children below 12 years of age and "eminent" businessmen are exempted from police reporting.

Under the category of Visitor visa, earlier only single entry visa for three months used to be issued for meeting relatives, friends, business or other legitimate purpose. Moreover, visa could be only issued for longer period not exceeding one year if owing to the nature of work or business.

Under the new pact, single entry visa is to be issued for six months but stay should not exceed three months at a time and for five places.

Under a new Category II, a visitor visa for a maximum five specified places may be issued for a longer period, up to two years with multiple entries to senior citizens (those above 65 years), spouses of a national of one country married to a person of another country and children below 12 years of age accompanying parents as given earlier.

The new Group Tourist visa will be issued for not less than 10 people and not more than 50 people. This visa will be valid for 30 days and will have to be applied through tour operators, registered by the two governments.

This is one of the good things India has done. It means that Indian leadership has still sense of direction. The day it will be gone in the name of globalization, over 600 states would again try to mushroom as independent states. Pakistan must follow the the path of India and weed out concept of dual citizenship .

Why did SM go there?
To resume/rekindle the hot affair that started behind the closed doors during their meet in New Delhi.

What does he mean to achieve from this trip?
Nothing much. Just a few 'jobs', that's all he wishes for.

Did Manmohan Singh authorise him?
No. Does he even have the authority to authorise himself, leave alone others?

What does Bharat get out of this trip?
Relaxed visa norms for terrorists. It would be easier for a group of terrorists of size 10-50 members to travel inside Bharatvarsh.

Are you really so ignorant. First let us see what are the results. Both the sides reached to an understanding that visa rules will be relaxed to an extent that persons older than 65 years of age will be issued on the spot visas while formalities and restrictions on visas for patients and tourists would be ended. As per the agreement reached, the big investors and traders will be given 3-year multiple visas and a 6-month transit visa while smaller investors and traders will be given a 1-year multiple visa. leaving aside filling up communication gap, it will not play musch role unless the outstanding issues between the two countries are not worked out.

You got a point. I agree with you that with more and more globalization, which brings in unlimited FIIs and FDI, creates tens of millions of jobs, plugs the gap between cultural boundaries, would lead to India breaking up into 600 states.

What they said and what it actually means..

Highlights: SM Krishna, Hina Rabbani Khar address the media

Islamabad: Foreign ministers of India and Pakistan, SM Krishna and Hina Rabbani Khar addressed the media in Islamabad today. Here are the highlights of the presser:

Hina Rabbani Khar:

-As a part of the broader vision, India and Pakistan has decided to move forward. We will not be held hostage by history.
[We will not discuss 26-11 anymore]

-We will build on convergences that unite India and Pakistan.
[Harp on terrorism as the 'common enemy']

-We must learn from the past and not miss opportunities. Pakistan is committed not to miss any opportunities to normalise relations.
[Pranab should not be allowed to give threats to -----stan like he did after 26-11, instead MMS should be given more opportunities to spread his misguided and perverted form of pacifism]

-Pakistan has sent a strong message that we are willing to move forward to a new future which is people-centric and development-centric that focuses on the people of India and Pakistan.
[Pakis are no longer going to discuss state-sponsored issues of cross border terrorism]

-We have to get out of the mindset where we view everything negatively vis-a-vis each other.
[Meaningless]

-Visa agreement is the first. It is a big step. It's an effort to make the people-to-people to contact stronger.
[People to people contact, meaning the kind of contact Kasav and his pals made with the people of Mumbai on 26-11]

-Trade normalisation between India and Pakistan expected around December 2012.
[Flowery words]

-We look forward to a peaceful future. I have talked to Foreign Minister SM Krishna to ensure talks are productive.
[Peaceful future, euphemism for the horrors that await a pacifist India]

-The aspirations of Kashmiri people must be kept in mind.
[We will keep funding terrorism, no matter what]

-The commitment and vision that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has shown must be applauded. Foreign Minister SM Krishna has led the way.
[The cowardice MMS has shown after 26-11 is laudable, the fanatic Muslims of Pakistan 'deeply love' MMS and think highly of him]

SM Krishna:

-We aim to build a relationship of trust which is mutually beneficial.
[Lie, beneficial only to Congress' perverted notion of votebank and Pakistan's cross border terror pushing]

-Given the complexity of the relationship, we are happy with the resumed talks.
[Actually referring to the relationship between Khar and SM]

-The talks have been cordial, frank and positive.
[Once again, personal talks]

-We are happy that Pakistan has given its commitment in bringing the perpetrators of the Mumbai 26/11 to justice.
[Note: We are happy(we are already satisfied). 'Given its commitment'(meaning it might never happen)]

-Interior Minister Rehman Malik has agreed to release all Indian fishermen in Pakistan prisons. I hope their boats are also returned.
[Begging for their boats to be returned so that they are not given to Kasav's pals or the PN]

-The path ahead won't be easy, but we are determined to walk the path. We will walk the talk together.
[Once again, referring to the relation between Khar and SM]

Yeah, after 65 years of a backstabber Pakistan and 9 years of Congress backstabbing, we the Bharatvasis have really become very ignorant. You got that right.

SM Krishna is merely a horny toad.

He has a glad eye for that young dame Hina Rabbani Khar.

Notice how he is most reluctant to leave that dame's hand after a handshake for the photos!

No wonder he is always hotfooting to Pakistan and coming empty handed!

HIna is a pretty dame and there is no doubt.

However, her voice is heavy like a man. It is girls who are prone to drinking and smoking are the one's who develop that heavy husky voice that sounds sexy to some!

Well, it is known fact that 1000's of Pakistanis disappear after entering India on valid visas, also known fact that 26/11 terrorists did a recce while on visit to watch cricket. I think I have raised a valid point that with past experience over so many decades and given Pakistan's enmity towards India, confidence building measures that are one sided as the ones by GOI in allowing investments, easier visas, etc we are only asking for trouble.

As for Pakistan being a failed state, it has appeared in the Failed States Index several times, this year with a slight improvement it has moved down from # 12 to # 13. Check out my link.
I am aware of the failed states index. Although I would be pleased to know how did you come to your conclusion of wave of illegal immigrants. That actually sounds stupid.

Quoting the same old facts on every occasion is not right. This thread had nothing to do with terrorism or 26/11. If for instance, someone starting posting pics of India's poverty on news item related to India's defence and started to bemoan our skewed priorities, wouldn't you get pissed off? Some facts should be produced only where they feel right, not on each and every thread which is not even remotely related to the topic. Thanks.
