'Zin Block can fulfil all of Pakistan's energy needs for next 100 years'

By Yasir Ameen Nov 27th, 2012 ( No Comment )

Islamabad: The Islamabad Women's Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IWCCI) on Monday said Zin gas can cater for all the energy requirements of Pakistan for next one hundred years.

Extraction from Zin Block can end energy crisis and cease the need to import LPG, LNG or natural gas from any country, said Farida Rashid, President IWCCI.Speaking to women entrepreneurs, she said that quantity of gas in Zin is almost double than that in Sui, the biggest natural gas field in Pakistan serving since 1955.The reserve, if commercially exploited will help Pakistan save huge foreign exchange, bring an end to gas scarcity for CNG, fertiliser and power sectors and revive economy, she said.

Farida Rashid said that Zin block is surrounded by major natural gas producing fields of Pirkoh, Loti, Sui and Uch and its gas can start flowing in the system within next six months settling severe energy crisis forever.Instead of importing gas from Iran or Turkmenistan, facing international pressures and investing billions in projects surrounded by risks, government should seriously consider exploring indigenous hydrocarbon resources on war footings, she said.

The IWCCI president said that Sui gas field accounts for 26 per cent of country's gas production, it is left with only 2 trillion cubic feet gas while the daily production is around 604 million cubic feet. The grim scenario calls for immediate exploration and extraction initiatives, she added. She said that Zin Block, located in Dera Bugti district, cannot be explored since sixteen years which is unfortunate despite the fact that it can guarantee prosperity by putting economy back on track.

Farida Rashid asked to government to adopt an aggressive strategy on exploration and production front in the unexplored areas of Balochistan to boost supply by two billion cubic feet per day.Our policy makers have turned to import of gas to fulfil the deficit ignoring local resources; she said adding that further delay in Zin exploration cannot be justified under any circumstances.

Good, work lets say see you later to Iran, Tajikistan and Qatar for good. Thar coal will be up and running in 10 years, with an endless supply of LNG. Subsidies the gas for industries, attract foreign investment specially Chinese. Pakistan will become an industrial economy in 25-30 years.

Guys cut the trolling. Let the man answer.
Reserve was discovered last years, this is the first report based on the initial feasibility. No, figures have been released as yet, however the projections are calculated according production to consumption ratio taking into account the % of yearly increase in demand. This is not the only reserve though, another huge gas reserve has been discovered in Badin district.

Below coal reserve is not part of the already discovered 128 Billion tonnes reserve in Thar [Largest in the world in a single geographic location, enough for 300 years]

Daily Times - Leading News Resource of Pakistan

Huge gas reserves discovered in Sindh, oil in KP - thenews.com.pk

GOP, has never bothered to exploit Pakistan's hydrocarbon potential, thanks to our asshole politicians keeping the country dependent on Arabs and Iran, for energy supply.Only recently, investment has been approved for new discoveries, now they are in talks with Norwegian state oil for exploring an offshore oil reserve in the arabian sea. Its, time to cut the crap and end dependance on other nations, not to forget when this reserve is up and running Pakistan has every reason to kiss n goodbye Iran, Tajikistan and Qatar. Which means we wont have to kiss, Karazi, Ayatollah and Sheikh's asses anymore.

If, Imran Khan wins the next elections it means Pakistan will become energy independent because they announced it in their energy policy paper to have internal dependance instead of external. I hope he executes these Sharif/Zardari and other ******s in broad day light.

ISLAMABAD The government has decided to provide a comprehensive security cover to the largest petroleum producer — OGDCL — to start drilling in one of the country`s most prospective but untapped oil and gas Zin block in Balochistan`s Marri-Bugti area.

"The Zin block is estimated to have about 9-10 trillion cubic feet (TCF) of gas reserves and we are moving in the area in a couple of weeks to start drilling," Shah Mehboob Alam, the Managing Director of Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), told Dawn0

Comprehensive security for OGDCL in Balochistan areas | Latest news, Breaking news, Pakistan News, World news, business, sport and multimedia | DAWN.COM

but the OT source confirms that the reserves are twice the size of Sui gas.which means around 22 trillions cubic feet

no doubt the reserves are very huge

He said the OGDCL had estimates of 8-10 trillion cubic feet of gas reserves before it moved to Zin area in September last year. He expressed the hope that the reserve would be even bigger in view of the initial results and the fact that the Zin block was hemmed in by major gas
discoveries.

Will Pakistan exist till next 100 years. Looking at the condition of Terrorism. If terrorism not curbed, then either Terrorism will kill Pakistan or the other countries effected by Terrorism.

Anyways its good news. Its good for Pakistan's economy. Indirectly good for us too.

Singh annual production and consumption is around 4-5 bcf. We do have curtailment in CNG system, which is due to the following reason:
1. In past 5 years there has been a huge increase in the domestic sector, which has increased there requirement. Even a small and remote villages have been given piped natural gas. In 5 years nearly 3000 new towns and villages have been added.
2. CNG pumps are on the domestic consumers pipelines therefore they cause low pressure for the domestic consumers.
3. Pakistan has the highest number of CNG converted vehicles in the world, therefor have alot of consumption requirement. GOP wants CNG restricted to public transports and less than 1000 CC vehicles. Once the policy regarding that is formalize the gas supply to CNG stations will be continuous.

Gas Industry in Pakistan is around 50 years old. Extraction and transportation is not a problem for us. At the moment major gas fields are owned by Pakistani companies. There is a very small US presence and Chinese presence in the Oil and Gas Industry is nearly zero.

Speaking of the Aukat, my friend we have been using piped gas for nearly 50 years, which was a fantasy for you Indian for many year. Just recently few areas in Indian major cities have been given piped gas :)
