Some leaked pictures of a new class of missile ship made in Tianjing China.

It is believed that this type of ship is designed and made for Pakistan. Two ships of the same type are built by Pakistan at the same time.

Details are still unclear, however, according to the picture, this vessel is about 500 tons which is little larger than normal missile boat and may have a longer range.

Pakistan getting stealth missile boats is something IN should be worried about. It won't alter the balance of power but they may be used to launch some spectacular attacks on a major Indian city/port, like IN did in Karachi.

These FACs are enough to play in your own backyard. Construction has been fast. Which variant of AK-630 they've got?

Pakistan Navy Fast Attack Craft launched PNS Azmat Was Launched At Tianjin China

ASIAN DEFENCE NEWS

The Pakistan Navy has become the first maritime force in the region that is equipped with stealth technology after its first Fast Attack Craft (FAC) equipped with missiles was launched on Tuesday. India also launched its FAC on the same day in Kochi.

"The version Pakistan has bought has far better qualities and added features including cost efficiency and multi-role in any combat activity," said an insider. "The inclusion of the FAC-M in Pakistan navy will enhance its capacity to fight against terrorism and extremism."

According to the Pakistan Navy, the FAC-M, designated as PNS Azmat was launched at Tianjin (Xingang Chinese Shipyard) in an impressive ceremony where Pakistan's Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral Noman Bashir was the chief guest. The vessel will be the first of the Azmat class FAC, scheduled to be delivered to the Pakistan Navy within six months.

The missile craft construction project represents a quantum leap, not only in defence production in the maritime sector of Pakistan, but also addresses a long-standing operational requirement of the Navy. The fast attack craft is equipped with advanced weaponry and sensors, including the C802A surface-to-surface missile, and has stealth features. The FAC in question has a crew of 12 to 14 sailors, less than half that of similar craft. At a unit cost of an estimated $50 million each, a Navy with limited resources could afford both the financial and manpower commitment.

Admiral Noman Bashir, who has brought several innovations in Pakistan, addressed the ceremony marking the launching of FAC-M.

Chill, These Boats can reach Mumbai without much assistance but Indian waters are much secure than one can think abt ( I can give you Idea if asked )

India dont operate any missile boats coz we dont require, Missile boats are purely defensive in today's naval warfare..
Why Missile boats are ineffective coz they lack other qualities to operate independently..

Btw this boat going to end up something like these, And our PN friends going to use latest Harpoons missiles..

They can't carry armaments of " spectacular load" to create the kind of havoc you percive... plus you forget the Pi8 in India's inventory plus just spectacular mismatch of naval strength India has over pakistan... and kunal is right above these are more defensive ships..

PN is not foolish to use them as openly :D

Why P8-I ?

They will use them with their capital ships like Frigate-22 types from China, These are not so stealty, it take more to reach that level means use of other material to archive compleate stealth addition with powerful ECCMs, And their are other factors like infrarate and water noise from water jets, A simple Do-228 of IN can detect such vessels from 50kms, P8-I are for more imporatant tasks..

These FACs can play a good tactical role. Considering future scenarios one can only see more of such units coming to PN/PLAAN. However their sailor carrying capacity is is just fair.

Defensive it is, with enough range (& even supersonic) missile, these vessels can shed some deterrence for IN surface ships to blockade Pakistan ports like before. I kind of doubt that's it meant for. Of course it's debatable in the next conflict IN will even (need to) use surface ships to do that.

PLAAN will use it mainly to counter taiwan's new fast ships. It'll be interesting to see if china can further develop this hull into larger platform capable to carry UAVs & more manpower.

PLAN do not need this type ship since we already have 022 class. And the new 1500 tons 056 class ships are already built in some shipyards which will replace 037 class and other ships to cruise coastline . You will see these boats next year for some parts are already seen in shipyard.

If acquired in numbers the purpose if this in PN will be to hound Big Indian boats. Nothing more than rabid dogs trying to take on a tiger.

This craft requires a crew of 12-18 sailors to operate.

First pictures of this new member in the rank of the PLAN should appear any time soon.

2-3 shipyards (HP and HD among them) with warship building experiences will make a start, joined later by a further 3-4 yards, thereby making sure the total of some 100 ships can be built within a short few years.
