Prima facie it appears that naxals had been tipped off about the special forces coming in. Jawans entered the jungles of Kasalpad and were turning back after they didn't spot any naxal movement. It was after they left the forest in this area and reached near Koraj Dongri that Naxals ambushed them. Surviving jawans have reportedly told their seniors that they came under fire when they tried to rescue their injured colleagues.

Officials believe some top Naxal leaders of Bastar have been hit in the operations. A CRPF contingent was sent for rescue and support once news of the encounter came in. "Arms and ammunitions of the security forces have been looted but Naxals too have taken the hit. At least four to five of their leaders were shot when the forces retaliated," a local official said.

Supply of arms and ammunition to Maoists have seen a rise.

"The Naxals, we have observed over the past few encounters, have been firing on an average 2,500 rounds every encounter, which means they've been able to get their hands on new source of ammunition," said a source. "Their UBGLs (Under Barrel Grenade Launchers) have a markedly improved accuracy. It seems they have been able to indigenously improve their existing weaponry."

The reality is pakis had better EW equipment and longer range BVR missiles, and they jammed the radars and comms of our flyboys and could listen to the communication going on between Abhi and ATC.
Shooting down friendly aircraft is a fuck up of highest order and even if over enemy territory the ATC knows whether the aircraft are ours or enemys. And that deserves punishment.

8 - 10 Maoist killed in Sukhna encounter as well!

In a fierce gun-battle between the Naxals and the joint security force comprising CRPF’s elite CoBRA battalion and Chhattisgarh Police’s Special Task Force (STF) and District Reserve Guards (DRG) near Kasalpad in Sukma district, 17 jawans from STF and DRG were killed and 14 were injured on Saturday evening.

Though the police have claimed that eight to 10 Maoists and their leaders were also eliminated during the encounter, none of their bodies has been recovered yet.

The Policemen were ambushed by the Commie Bastards during the operation in the jungle. I am pretty sure they didn’t have Adequate intelligence on the strength And Number of the enemies in the area. The shoes, clothes, weapons And other Equipment might have been either captured By the Commie Terrorists or recovered by Allied Forces when looking for the bodies of the Martyred Soldiers.

17 jawans go missing after encounter with Naxals in Chhattisgarh's Sukma; search underway

Sukma | Jagran News Desk: As many as 17 security personnel of the Chhattisgarh’s police have gone missing after a deadly encounter with Naxals in forests of the state's insurgency-hit Sukma district on Sunday.

The STF District Reserve Group (DRG) and Cobra Battalion has launched a search operation in the district to locate the 13 jawans who went missing after an encounter with the Naxals.

"Search operation by STF DRG and CoBRA Battalion for 13 jawans re-launched today morning," Chhatisgarh Director General of Police DM Awasthi said, as reported by news agency ANI.

Chhatisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that several of the Naxals were killed in the encounter, adding that 17 jawans are missing.

A furious encounter had begun between the security forces and the Naxals on Saturday. 15 of the paramilitary jawans were injured, three of them critically, during an encounter. The injured jawans were airlifted to a hospital in Raipur, the police said.

The encounter took place around 2.30 pm near Korajguda hills in Chintagufa area when a joint team of security forces was out on an anti-naxal operation, he said.

Personnel of the police's District Reserve Guard (DRG), Special Task Force and CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action) had launched the operation from Chintagufa, Burkapal and Timelwada camps based on information about presence of ultras near Elmagunda, he said.

When the team was advancing through Korajguda hills near Elmagunda, located around 450 km from the state capital Raipur, firing broke out between the two sides, he said.

"Based on ground inputs, it is believed at least four to five naxals might have been killed and an equal numberinjured as security forces retaliated strongly," the official said.

"Fourteen personnel sustained injuries. They have been airlifted to Raipur and admitted at a private hospital where the condition of two of them was said to be critical," an official statement said later at night.

"So far there is no report of death of any personnel in the encounter. However, at least 13 jawans could not be contacted after the encounter. Around 150 security personnel are still out in the forest," it added
