Jaipur foot to help Afghan disabled
JAIPUR: The makers of the world famous artificial limb - Jaipur Foot- Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS) would hold a monthlong camp at Afghanistan's capital Kabul in May this year for equipping artificial limbs on handicapped Afghan nationals.

There is a target to benefit 1000 handicapped persons through the camp which is being organized in the association with the government of Afghanistan. The director general of the Afghanistan's ministry of labour, social affairs and disabled, Sayed Hameed Ullah Sadat, along with the director of the Kabul-based National Institute of the Disabled, Dr Fazelullah Mohameddi, and the advisor to the deputy minister of health, Abdullah Miakhil, on Friday visited the BMVSS centre at Malviya Nagar and inspected the making of the Jaipur Foot.

D R Mehta, the founder and the chief patron of BMVSS along with technical team members Dr M K Mathur, Dr Pooja Mukul and Dr P K Jain explained to the delegation members about the technical aspects of the artificial limb making and also explained on how the low cost prosthetics is cost effective, durable and high performing.
