#CAPABILITIES
Zebu is a light armoured vehicle (4.2 -ton) built on a rugged ladder chassis with independent suspension in front and rigid axle on the rear that can be dedicated to Command and Liaison missions.
Its compact size and 4x4 capability provides the vehicle with excellent all-terrain mobility. The Stanag level 1 (Ballistic and Grenade) armoured body is designed to protect a crew of 6 members.
The versatile Zebu is also an excellent homeland security vehicle readily deployable for Law Enforcement and anti-terrorist campaign, light bulletproof personnel carrier or as field ambulance.
#MOBILITY
The 4x4 approach (>30°) and departure, angles (>30°) are adequately designed for ground clearance and a fording capability of 500mm. It has a gradability of more than 30 degrees and stability of 17 degrees for a good on and off-road mobility. In terms of agility in complex rough-terrain areas Zebu’s compact size with the length just under 4900 mm and width under2000 mm along with the mass less than 4200 kilogram is ideal for maneuvering narrow roads.
A powerful 168 HP coupled with a very efficient manual gearbox is designed to help climbing gradients effortlessly, with an automatic transmission being offered as optional. Deployment: The vehicle can be airlifted due to the compactly dimensioned design on C-130 for Medevac and Air cargo transport.
#COMMAND & #LIAISON
Zebu’s advanced technology is perfectly designed for Mission Liaison, command, reconnaissance, system transport and surveillance. It can accommodate Maximum crew of 1 commander and 4 associates, dimensioned at 4.9 x 2 x 2.26 m accurately. Cabin is also rendered armored with 2 side doors (+2 optional), 1 rear door and a Turret or roof hatch (Folded).
APC
As an armoured vehicle on a border surveillance mission, Zebu is configured accordingly as a container transport and troop transport. It is manufactured to seat maximum 2 commanders and 6 associate crew men (troop transport) and is capable to accommodate 2 + 1 + 2 stretchers (ambulance). Overall dimensions of the vehicle are 4.9 x 2 x 2.25 m with 2 side doors, 1 rear door, and a roof hatch.
#PICK-UP
As a Pick up vehicle Zebu has been modeled on two Versions -Standard cabin and Crew cabin, both the variants particularly designed for Border surveillance, transport of supplies and equipment and another logistic supports. Maximum upto 2 crew men can be seated in Standard cabin and 4 men in the Crew cabin. The overall dimensions of the vehicle are 4.9 x 2 x 2.25 m and the Flat bed is sized at 1.25 m Long and .8 m high
LAW ENFORCEMENT
Zebu offers vehicles for missions catering to internal security. It can seat maximum upto a total of 5 crew members which will include 1Commander and associates. The armoured vehicle is overall dimensioned at 4.9m x 2mx 2.25m .The armoured cabin is equipped with 2 side doors (2more can be optional), 1 rear door and a roof hatch. The electronic and electric capabilities include Surveillance cameras, police light bar & siren. The interior layout configurations are specially designed for individual tear gas grenade launchers and multi-tube tear gas grenade launchers.

Soon, 464 new tanks for Army

Cleared by MoD, order set to be placed for indigenous production

Almost 18 months after the Ministry of Defence gave the nod to get 464 new tanks of the T-90 series, the deal is set to be finalised and an order to be placed for making these tanks in India.

The T-90 is a Russian tank manufactured at Heavy Vehicles Factory in Avadi near Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Some parts of this war-machine will come from Russia to be integrated here.

The Rs 3,500-crore project to add these 464 tanks has been sent for formal approval of the Cabinet Committee on Security headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Defence Acquisition Council in the MoD had cleared the purchase in November 2016.

These tanks will be deployed on the western borders with Pakistan. These will form 10 new regiments, equipped with latest thermal imaging night sights and better firing abilities. India has already inducted some 1,100 T-90 tanks.

Indian Army has a 3,000-strong tank fleet — primarily T-90 and T-72. The T-90 deal was with Russia in 1999 for supply of 310 tanks. Later, the production of 1000 tanks was okayed. In the past, the local production of the tank faced problems over escalating cost and quality. The Avadi factory that is under the Ordnance Factory Board has tied up with leading Indian manufacturers for several components. The tanks are considered to be most advanced in the Indian inventory as they are equipped with sophisticated equipment.

Amost one year passed still they are manufacturing Yuktirath mine protected vechile. Comparing to private companies like Tata and Mahindra supplied mine protected vechiles to forces swiftly and on before time.

Its a matter of national pride. We were humiliated last time. Thats our MBT. Thats all we have. We have to restore our lost pride.
If chinese Type 96 fail like this they can always say we have better Type 99.

Don't see it that way and instead learn from from your shortcomings and improve upon it.

This is what The Hindu reported "Last year, the Army had taken its own tanks from India. But this year it has decided against it due to logistical issues and high costs. Also, the tanks taken last year were older ones which broke down in the final stage of the competition. All together, this year the Army decided to use the tanks offered by Russia."
