There has been in the 80s and 90s sentiment for "Independence" in Kashmir but there has never been a major support for joining Pakistan. In earlier thread below opensource public opinion surveys have documented this

who is your enemy ?our own people?Our own govt and security forces too had a bloody hand in the kashmir crisis.The prblem wouldnot have reached this much if the 1987 election wasn't rigged.Plus as like an eye for an eye approach security forces also had killed down many civilians
