UPA following Nehru's same 'elusive' course on China: BJP : Politics News-IBNLive

New Delhi: BJP on Sunday alleged that the UPA government is following the "same elusive and self-destructive course" that was adopted by then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru before the 1962 Indo-China war and demanded that appropriate steps be taken soon. A day after the 50th anniversary of the Indo-China war, BJP also demanded that the Henderson Brooks report be made public and a National War Memorial be set up in memory of the martyred soldiers.
In a statement issued here, former BJP President Rajnath Singh alleged that the UPA government is following the "same elusive and self-destructive course" that was adopted by Nehru before the Chinese aggression in 1962. "Ever since the UPA government has come to power China has been claiming the entire state of Arunachal Pradesh and certain parts of Ladakh region as its own," Singh said.
He said that as per media reports instances of Chinese army intrusions have increased from 180 per year to more than 400 till September this year alone. Singh warned that this could lead to another "historic blunder" for the country. "China's aggressiveness and assertiveness along the LAC clearly indicate that the UPA government has not been able to assert India's sovereignty," he claimed.

The main opposition party demanded that the Brooks report on the causes of India's defeat in the 1962 war be declassified and made public. It also sought 'one-rank-one pension' be implemented for the benefit of ex-servicemen.

What about the Henderson Brooks report? Is it still classified.
That is a good question, one has to wonder why is it still classified 50 years after the war was fought if India didn't do anything wrong in 1962.

One wild guess would be, once the report is declassified, it would blow the big lies told by Indians wide open. No one could let that happen.

Wether or not this report is made public, indians can always believe what they want to believe. Just as the myth: India give UNSEC seat to China. One indian talked about this story without any backup, soon it becomes a "true" history among indians everywhere!

There is some truth in this.
"India was offered a permanent seat on the council 55 years ago, in 1955. But that offer, made by the United States and the Soviet Union, was declined by India's first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. Nehru said the seat should be given to China instead."
Obama supports adding India as a permanent member of U.N. Security Council
All this shows how naive Nehru really was.Successive Indian governments are still under the illusion that you can have honorable negotiations with a totalitarian fascist state.
PRC is behaving just like Nazi Germany in 1939.And just like Nazi Germany - arrogance and abuse of power will lead to its downfall.

Are those the facts?

united nations - Why did India turn down permanent seat in UN in 1955 - History Beta - Stack Exchange
As for India being offered a seat in the UN in 1955 - I don't know how true that is but there is another reference from 2008 mentioning the same thing. I'm not sure how trustworthy that reference is though. In addition the term "offer" is very vague - it could simply mean that the US indicated support for an Indian permanent membership. If the UN had formally agreed to let India in, it would have been very big news probably requiring a vote in the General Assembly. So it's pretty much impossible that India had the choice of taking a permanent seat in the council in 1955.
UN Security Council: Why is India not a permanent member of the UN Security Council (and China is)? - Quora
Keep in mind that this China was the Republic of China, with whom the United States had very close political and military ties, and not the Communist government that later came to power as the People's Republic of China, which only took over China's Security Council seat in 1971. For quite a long time, both governments claimed to be the legitimate government of "China" and both claimed the same land as their own. It took a UN resolution to have Chinese membership shifted from the ROC to the PRC. (The ROC, i.e. Taiwan, is no longer recognized as a UN member state, despite repeated applications for membership.)

It is very difficult for person like to you to understand the reason... first tell your CPC thugs to build a society that encourage independent thinking... as you are used to CPC propaganda feed to you from child birth... Have some shame while openning your mouth... I would have appreciated if a US or French have said so... but not from a Chinees robot...

One wild guess would be, once the report is declassified, it would blow the big lies told by Indians wide open. No one could let that happen.
CPC thugs must have taught you to make wild guess when it comes for India ??? It is the China thats is holding the illigal ocupation of Tibet & East Turkmenistan... couple of days back a Tibetian monk did self imolation... It must be to show love for China...
Has your media reported the sorry state of Tibetians ? or there is total ban on such reporting ???

As have been saying / posting earlier too... India has understood the back stabber called China... The evil chinees needs to be taken head on from all sides.

Just find the name of the authors: Rama Lakshmi. Right, an indian!
Good, now, indians even start to spread their "story" internationally without any evidence!
By the way, since when a newspaper become the authority prove of a diplomatic activity?
Can you offer any American or British gov documents to support your "story"?

All this shows how naive Nehru really was.Successive Indian governments are still under the illusion that you can have honorable negotiations with a totalitarian fascist state.
Oh, Nehru was never that naive since he never wanted to have such negotiation which was suggested by PRC for many times.
Even after he started his forward policy by sending indian troops in Chinese controlled area, he still rejected the suggestion from PRC once again!

PRC is behaving just like Nazi Germany in 1939.And just like Nazi Germany - arrogance and abuse of power will lead to its downfall.
In this case, india behaved more like Nazi -- arrogance and abuse of power until get a bloody nose!

The lies about the legend of NEHRU, who consistently ignored the military's warning of chinese intentions, and believing blindly in the indo-china -bhai bhai slogan.
And he hoped that chinese would keep quiet if he puts up totally unsupported and undefendable border posts through out the border much against the advice of army.
He simply believed that either USSR or RUSSIA will come running to save india, continuing to detest the military due to hid freedom struggle days animosity of the british.
Chinese showed their true colour by striking at the oppurtune time the cuban missile crisis , on the logistically unsupported posts and wiythdrew once the cuban missile crisis ended after the american help arrived.

The USSR couldn't alienate the chinese at the critical time of cuban missile crisis, and NEHRU's cover of being a great diplomat was blown.
