how can u differentiate between classes of submarines just by looking at them...

can u please educate me the difference in look wise and other technical differences between the various class of submaries

Size, width, towers, bow so does the tail, Sonars..

Every submarine type has different shape and size, For example take Akula 971 type with a Kilo 636/877 or a with a los angeles class..

Please do ask..

it was taken from google earth...
That ain't Arihant

It is Arihant. It ain't Arihant. - cannot decide!

What about that arrow shaped yellow or golden concavity on the bow? I don't recall seeing that in many other submarines, whether Indian or otherwise.

Armand2REP, if you are anywhere close to NC, we need to meet up over a pint!

Arihant or not, here is another submarine, the slightly larger Graney Class Severodvinsk, named after the same city where our beloved Vicky is being fitted!

Will our next Arihant Class take cues from here? Of course, I do expect fins on the sail, as in first Arihant, unlike the Graney!

Simply look at the google earth I posted. It is a Kilo and you can tell by the HW SSK in the next birth. It is bigger than the supposed Arihant (actual Kilo). That would be impossible.

And I still think this is a photochop. Poor spacing on a launch banner?

Thanks for posting.

Firstly, you have excluded the map's scale, so I have no idea how big or small the submarine is.

Secondly, what about that arrow shaped golden or yellow thing on the bow?

Thirdly, can you please post the Google Earth link?

Fourthly, it doesn't look like a photoshop, but then, one can never be sure.

Fifthly, when are we meeting up for a pint of beer? :D

Something is fishy.

I just scurried and checked Hindustan Shipyard in Vishakhapatnam. That shipyard does not look like what Bhramos posted. Sorry guys, this could be a false positive!

moreover its very well said by navy spokesperson and defence ministry that the shipyard is covered from all sides to hide the submarine.
