Syrian Army Approaches Kweres Air Base, Advances to Aleppo

Damascus, Nov 10 (Prensa Latina) The anti terrorist offensive launched by the Syrian Army, in cooperation with militias of the People Defense Groups in Aleppo province, continue approaching to Kweres airport, after liberating Shiek Ahmad town.

Military spokespeople yesterday confirmed the destruction of facilities, command posts, armored vehicles, weapons, and ammunition that belonged to the terrorist groups operating in Shiek Ahmad, the last obstacle before approaching the air base, which has made resistance to the Takfirist siege for about two years.

Syrian Army's engineering units continue defusing dozens of improvised explosive devices which were planted by the armed extremists before leaving

that strategic town, which along with Brawi, Aziza, Azizieh Samaan, and Tal Mamo, are zones free of terrorists.

Clashes were reported in Maaret Nouman, and Saraqeb zones, in Idleb province, 320 kilometers northeastern of this capital, with a total of scores of dead insurgents and a big part of their arsenal destroyed.

In Daraa province, located 103 kilometers south of this capital Army forces attacked positions of Al-Nusra Front militiamen, armed group of al-Qaeda in Syria, in the eastern part of Busra al-Sham city, and destroyed arms and ammunition warehouses in Daraa al-Balad.

Takfirist elements, who tried to break the government defense in Asliha, town were also killed.

For their part, joint Syrian and Russian air force units destroyed 448 terrorist groups' targets in the last 72 hours in Aleppo, Idleb, Latakia, Raqqa, Homs, Hama, and the surroundings of Damascus

Syrian Army Captures More Areas in Damascus Countryside

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian army and the National Defense Forces (NDF) made fresh military gains in the Northeastern parts of Damascus countryside, and expanded their control over more regions.

The Syrian forces took back a number of buildings along Harasta highway in the outskirts of Damascus.

Tens of militants were killed and dozens more were injured in heavy clashes with the Syrian troops.

Earlier today, the Syrian army continued to advance against the Takfiri terrorists in Eastern Ghouta in Damascus Countryside and retook strategic areas from the foreign-backed militants.

The Syrian troops took full control over al-Mahalej area, to the South of Marj al-Sulatn, and the farms surrounding it.

On Monday, the militant groups' attack on a military checkpoint in Damascus countryside was fended off by the Syrian Army, local officials said, and added that 10 terrorists were killed in the failed assault.

The sources said that at least 10 terrorists were killed and many more were wounded in the militants' attempt to capture an army checkpoint in the farms near Marj al-Sultan village.

used to respect George Friedman and his intelligence company (i.e. Stratfor) for trying to be objective on a number of geopolitical issues in the past, but now it's becoming very clear to me that there is no objectivity and that these guys are nothing but neocon lunatics and psychopathic wishful thinkers who love to see more destruction in the Middle East and love to see the collapse of America's adversaries (i.e. Russia and China) at any cost. I can't believe I used to be duped into taking these people seriously before. Honestly, these guys are sick, and their twisted goals have sadly been endorsed by Western politicians and think tanks for many years.

I'll give you an example of what I mean. George Friedman's Stratfor intelligence company -- which is known as "The Shadow CIA" by some people -- is trying to make it appear as though the Russian military intervention in Syria is destined to fail. Ironically, this is the same intelligence company that has said the exact opposite for Saudi Arabia's intervention in Yemen. So, according to these neocon psychopaths, the results of Russia's one month old campaign in Syria have been more than enough for them to conclude that Russia's intervention is destined to fail, whereas Saudi Arabia's eight month old campaign in Yemen, which has now taken a turn for the worse, has somehow been an enormous success. If that's not hypocrisy, then I don't know what is. Of course, this is the same intelligence company that predicts that Turkey will one day become a global superpower and rule most of Eurasia while China and Russia fragment and fade into oblivion. Ergo, Stratfor's analyses and predictions are a right-wing American's wet dream.

There's really no objectivity when it comes to Stratfor. This so-called intelligence company pretends to be objective and has tricked many people into taking it seriously, but it's actually run by a group of psychopathic wishful thinkers whose analyses and predictions are based entirely on their hopes. The more you learn about them, the more you begin to realize that you've been duped. And sadly, this doesn't just happy to Stratfor. This applies pretty much to most think tanks based in the West these days. Perhaps there was a time when the West had objective analysts, but nowadays the level of bullshit in the West has gotten so high that it'll make Muhammad Saeed al-Sahhaf blush!

Britain: Vienna talks to draw up Syria 'terrorist' list

The world powers trying to end the civil war in Syria are drawing up a list of "terrorist" groups, Britain said Tuesday, warning that some countries may have to drop support for allies on the ground.

"It will require deep breaths on several sides, including the US side," British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond warned, speaking to reporters in Washington.

"I'm not so sure I would write off the possibility of agreeing on who is a terrorist," he said, in remarks at the British embassy the morning after talks with US Secretary of State John Kerry.

But he warned that there would be horse trading ahead.

"The Saudis are never going to sign up to Ansar al-Sham being categorized as terrorists," he said, citing the example of one Sunni armed group reported to receive outside Arab backing.

Syrian government forces received intelligence on terrorist positions around the besieged Kweires airbase from opposition sources, which helped them lift the two-year blockade, the Russian Defense Ministry has revealed.

The general said intelligence from the opposition also helped the Russian air force to deliver a series of strikes around the city of Hama and prevented a planned offensive operation of the enemy.

TEHRAN (FNA)- Syrian army forces entered Marj al-Sultan military airbase in Eastern Ghouta in Damascus countryside while heavy clashes are underway between them and the terrorists in the region, the second airport taken back by the pro-government troops in the last 3 days.
The Syrian army troops and National Defense Force (NDF) broke through Jeish al-Islam’s defenses at the Marj al-Sultan Military Airbase and reportedly entered the airbase in the East Ghouta region of Damascus province.

According to a military source, the Syrian Armed Forces launched large-scale attack on Jeish al-Islam’s defenses on the army base located at the Western sector of Deir Salman and took full control over this military installation at the Southern perimeter of the Marj al-Sultan Airbase.

Following the capture of the army base, the Syrian soldiers and their allies pushed towards the army terrain that is situated to the South of the helicopter fields, capturing half of the area

According to latest report, Syrian forces are now making a push towards the helicopter fields.

The Syrian army launched operations on Wednesday to win back control over Marj al-Sultan airbase after 3 years of siege by terrorists following its groundbreaking victory in the battle against ISIL in Aleppo that ended up with the removal of a 2.5-year-long siege of the Kuweires airbase on Tuesday.

The military operations started on Tuesday when the Syrian army advanced against the Takfiri terrorists in Eastern Ghouta and retook strategic areas from the foreign-backed militants.

The Syrian troops took full control over al-Mahalej area, to the South of Marj al-Sulatn, and the farms surrounding it.

The Syrian army, popular forces and Hezbollah forces, backed up by Syrian and Russian air force, lifted the two and a half-year-long siege of Kuweires military airbase after killing hundreds of ISIL terrorists on Tuesday.

The Syrian troops and Hezbollah forces rolled into the Kuweires airport at the end of their daylong last phase of massive operations.

The Syrian army, the National Defense Forces (NDF) and Hezbollah combatants, backed up by Russian warplanes, launched the last round of their over one-month-long joint operations against the ISIL terrorists' positions in Eastern Aleppo near the Kuweires airbase Tuesday morning, and won full control over the strategic Aleppo-Raqqa Highway.

The attack started from multiple directions and ended up in cleaning up several villages from ISIL. Hundreds of the ISIL militants were killed or wounded in the operations.

In the next stage, Syrian and Russian Air Forces massively targeted the last strongholds of the ISIL militants around the Kuweires airbase.

In addition to the Syrian and Russian airstrikes, the artillery and mortar units of the army also shelled the ISIL strongholds to weaken their defense lines as much as possible to lay the ground for the combatants of Hezbollah, the army soldiers and the National Defense Forces to launch the final phase of their joint operations to lift the siege on Kuweires airbase.

Intelligence sources said hundreds of ISIL militants were fleeing the Kuweires region to safer areas to save their lives after suffering heavy casualties in the joint massive attack of the Syrian Army and Hezbollah with the Russian air backup.

After cleaning the region, the pro-government troops had to defuse a minefield planted by the ISIL before they could reach the gates of airbase.
