Weight of just over 9 kg. With Picatinny rail. 18 inch barrel. Further development work on polymer butt stock.

If guys in OFB scratch their head a little bit more, a 338 lapua magnum Sniper under 15kg load is not far away.

This is good for replacing the 1B Bren in service. But the Mag heritage won't help in making a more compact version for SF usage, unlike the Negev or PKM.

At first look, this looks like the M240Bs in service with the US Army, good job ARDE+OFB! This actually could be a viable replacement for the Brens in service.

i hope it is now safe to assume that ARDE+OFB combine have built up sufficient expertise to design and develop all kinds of infantry weapons of any caliber which is comparable to the best western weapons. But the question is will the army induct them or change the requirement and stall the indegeneous programmes in trials for years. Paramilitary forces are setting an example by going for indegeneous weapons, hope army follows the same.

Sandeep just put up a new thumbnail of the new 7.62x51 OFB rifle.

This rifle is aesthetically pleasing, maybe due to flatter profile due to a milled body and an angular top receiver cover. That handguard though is filthy and I had doubts if that upper handguard will stick around once the lower handguard is removed, but it seems to be held in place by the same hinge assembly as the upper receiver. Frankly, they could have gone with a better design with rails built on to gas tube like galil ace.

Other than that, it only needs a better muzzle break (easily doable), ambidextrous safety (easily doable) and a bolt hold release switch (easily doable).

How much Weight this Kit Increases or Decreases ?
Compared to Regular AK-47 what all changes dose this kit bring ?
Which units of IA are getting equipped ?
Who is doing these Modifications (DRDO + 3rd Party or DRDO with TOT from some foreign vendor ) ?
Is it any good , what do our Guys handling these guns have to say about this ?

Considering the topmost pic was taken recently, DRDO is still putting up AAR on it's exhibits stall.
They don't usually put dead or experimental projects on show in exhibition.
